Default Is this the factory SS catback?

I think its the factory SLP one but im not sure. Someone with better knowledge would be appredciated.

If it helps at all i bought the car at 77k bone stock. Havn't called SLP to get the build number but it does have the WU8 RPO code. Not sure about all the SLP things that came on the car. But id like to know if thats the exhaust at least.

Sorry about the pic, only one i have of the rear right now.

Stock ss catback. Slp dual dual would have dual tips on eachside or a cme. Your car should have a slp second option sticker showing slp modifications if it has any. Also look for y2y indicating it came with slp options.

Look in the passenger door jamb for an SLP "added content" sticker. If you had exhaust as an option from SLP, it would be listed there.

That looks to me like a very dirty, base SS/WS6 exhaust system.

Y2Y doesnt mean it has second sticker options for sure though, mines a "base" model SS and has the Y2Y rpo with no second sticket options.

Your a 35th LE..all 35ths have Y2Y because your all SLP Editions. For us regular SLP cars Y2Y means second sticker content.

There is no "SLP Edition". All SSs are done by SLP. There is, of course, additional SLP content that can be added to any SS above and beyond the base content, but that does not make one an "SLP SS" while other's are just an "SS".

Every LS1 SS was done by SLP. Every single one of them. They are all SLP SSs and/or SSs, depending on how you want to say it.

Anyone who referrs to them that way is doing so of their own choice. There is no offical term given to an SS just because it has some level of additional SLP content. Y2Y is an indicator of additional content, but just because one SS came with a dash plaque and a key fob doesn't make it an "SLP SS", vs an SS that came only with base content and no Y2Y RPO.

On the other hand, there were packages offered which would add special and offical titles to certain SSs, such as the 345hp package and LE package cars.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to nit pick or be an ***, but there are new onwers that read these threads and sometimes get the wrong idea about how these options/trim levels/packages worked, now nearly 10 years ago. I'm just trying to keep it clear for the people who still need to learn.

I understand completely. My car came with the 335HP package from SLP.

It was equipped with the following:
-SLP Dual/Dual Exhaust
-Key Fobs & Plaque
-Floor Mats

Everyone I've ever spoken with when they said they had an SLP SS, they ment it had SLP options. It's common knowledge for the most part that every SS was sent to SLP.

The 98 SS's were done in house by GM according to a camaro history book I have at home.

Funny that SLP can still provide build numbers for '98 SSs, though.

Plain and simple, that's a shitty book backed by poor research. Seriously, if it says what you claim, then the author should be notifed that he is wrong.

Here's an article from November of '97, about the '98 SS:

http://www.camaroz28.com/1998-camaro-ss/

But forget about internet articles, just call SLP if you don't believe me.
