Default are you guys getting loans for your SS, ZZ28s or ws6s?

First time poster here.
I have heard that some banks/credit unions limit the car you can get to a certain year/mileage.
I would be going though a credit union and the car I am looking at is a 2000 Camaro SS with 44k miles priced at $12500. Are any of you guys running into problems with getting your LS1 F bodies financed? or is everyone pretty much forking out the cash for their cars?

Every bank/loan company has different rules regarding the loan amount of a vehicle that is over 10yrs old. I did however get a loan for my F-body but it was a 02 and it was in 2005 so the age was not an issue for me. Sounds like you are looking at a real nice car man good luck with it.

If they can't give you an auto loan look into a purpose loan or even a line of credit. The rate might be higher with a LOC but the thing is once you pay it off you have access to it again for future purposes

the purpose loan could be an idea but see this will be my first loan. Im 20 and my mom will have to co sign. Ive been looking into some GTOs but they can be up there on price. an 04 GTO might be right at the cut off and in my price range but with it being an LS1 and heavier than the F bodies I was trying to stay away from it.

I got a small loan for mine but when I bought it last year, it only had 19k miles on it which probably helped. Hell, it only has 25k on it now... I really need to drive more.

Be careful...at your age your insurance will be as much as the car payment.

Being 20 it might be tough to because buying a used car they look at your credit a little harder. If you were looking at a 4 year old car for $20000, it would be easier than a $13000 11 year old car. I just tried to do the same thing, but as in a divorce with decent credit, they wouldnt make the loan.

do you really want a loan on a car that old that might be worth less what you owe on it in a few yrs?

I had no problem getting a loan for the 2000 WS6 Formula I purchased in July. 7.25% for 36 months financed thru the same Credit Union I always use for vehicle loans. I also have really good credit and have never even been late on a payment, so I'm sure I could get a loan for almost anything within reason.

okay so someone brought up insurance. My buddy, who is 20, said he put his 2002 WS6 in his moms name and he is just listed as a driver under the insurance. This may be frowned upon but cant I do that?

Yes you can do that if your mom is willing to do it. It will save you alot of money in insurance cost trust me I was in the same boat you are in insurance wise when i bought my car back in 05. I was quoted $350 a month by myself and I had 0 tickets and 0 at fault accidents. Under my parents insurance it was $96 a month.

I didnt finance my car but I did have my mom cosign for me for me to get a personal loan for the rest of the money I needed to get my Z28 and I am 20 years old. We put the car under my moms name so the insurance isnt as high.

You must have a spotless record... I'm turning 21 in 10 days and I paid $230/month for my 02 SS for full coverage through state farm... And $202/month for my Z06. Don't ask me how or why... Since I am not complaining... But what insurance company do you have and what kind of coverage is it?

Quick Reply: are you guys getting loans for your SS, ZZ28s or ws6s?
