in that second link posted by rock-on, you say right there that its a tuning issue. i think you need to find a new tuner.

the first tune worked fine until the trans broke the second time. rock on rebuilt it under warranty hasen't been right since. you can call it what you want. i paid for a working transmission & i still don't have one. sounds like the computer geeks at my company. the hardware guys say it's the software & the software guys say its the hardware. very convient way to dodge the problem. the customer gets left hanging

Default Fed Up With Rock On

i don't know what the deal is, but i have had one thread locked & another moved. i was told by the moderator not to thrash a sponser & keep it clean. i have done both & my thread still gets jacked. i thought this was what this forum was for? to discuss the Good & the Bad. i'm am just telling my experience. and there is two sides to every story. let the members decide for theselves. i am not making all these things up. although this has lasted for over a year so i may have forgot a couple of things. the fact still remains i bought a transmission from rock on that worked correctly for 1 month after a year & several trips back to there shop with much cleaning of my car & addional repairs to exhaust system cut & pinched wiring etc. while the car sat at their shop it never got fixed. they claim it was tuning problems. but when the trans was built by rock on the first time until it broke the tune worked great. convertiable 6.90 1/8 1.5 60'. rock on rebuilt. same tune same everything, gears, tire height etc. hit rev limiter on 2-3 shift. chris robertson who tuned the car with out a problem for over a year ( i ran the car for a year on stock tranny) could not correct problem with tuning.
i'll tell you if i was in this business i think i would have to have a tuner that i could work with because all you guy's know how frustrating it is when your car won't work right & the finger pointing starts

so i guess this thread will stay open as long as the moderator decides it can. if i am doing something wrong here i wish john would tell me. i've at least 4-5 people who are members here so i guess i'll let them tell my story when this thread gets hacked. i think this is pretty clean you decide

Dude, this is getting no where. You made your point over and over and over again. Now youre just asking for trouble. I understand your anger and fustration but what do hope to accomplish by pissing off the mods and making thread after thread about the same thing. Ive read both sides of the story and I really feel you should try to work with Rock on futher and try to solve this problem. It's that or take a lost the tranny and get another one. If it makes you feel any better I dont forsee myself getting anything from them if they cant make you happy. Still doesnt mean you have to keep reposting this thread. Good luck to you.

In one of the threads Rock on said they had a way of testing the trans to rule out tuning as a issue. How did that go? Did you try a new tune? What exactly keeps breaking in the tranny? Also, what if they removed one of thier trannys from a car that works and installed it in yours and it does the same thing, then what? I really hope it all works out for you. I know how fustrating it can all be.

Frank,

As I said in my PM to you feedback about sponsors needs to be posted in the Sponsor Feedback Forum not in the tech. section.
Board member feedback about a sponsor is always welcomed but it needs to be in the correct forum and needs to be factual.

Thanks

John

Default Good Morning

Yeah I see what's going on here but lashing out at a sponsor is not getting you anywhere. I really think that you should make the peace with Dave regardless of the situation. Be the better man and just try it. I'm sure that he is not enjoying the bad press your stirring up. If he's as good as some of the members say than I would think that he's either going to take care of it or maybe tell you where to take it to be straightened out. Sorry to both sides of this story but I've seen this in the past. Nobody wins here!

F-man,

What is your goal now?

If you even wanted to work it out with Rock-On, you need to call them on Monday and work out a plan/solution.

If you want to vent, keep on venting.

But I think you need to do the following:
-Have pro check fluid level, and color
-Download your current tune, and check it; upload suggested tune
-Take to Rock-On or whomever if the trans still has issues.

There are a number of parameters that need to be changed when you mess with shift points... We had a helluva time back in 1998-1999 as you can imagine.

So, everyone tells you that your Tune is fubar, but you don't believe it.

Dave puts in several combos, none work, and then Sean puts in a combo which doesn't work, but you keep blaming the transmission?

LOL! You can lead a horse to water...

well i guess i missed something we used 2 different tunes LS1 edit which had worked great with the first build rock on did. trans broke. rock on rebuilt it. it wouldn't work. this was with the same tune. took it back to robertson who had tuned the car with no problem. he couldn't get it to work for more than a week or two. we switched to HP tuners. it did the same thing. so why wouldn't it be the trans? i've lead this horse every where i can & it still dosen't work. please help me understand.

i agree i just want it fixed. i have contacted dave. sounds like he wants to point fingers. read the posts. thats ok. he even says i didn't show up the last time i was supposed to ( july 05') be at his shop. i guess he forgot. i was there. i even visited him when he was in the hospital. i'm happy to reply to any posts & i'll keep it clean as the mod has requested. dave will have the oppertunity shortly to tell his side of the story to the Dallas & Fort Worth BBB

still hitting the rev limiter? if its carrying through the gear all the way and not dropping out into the prior gear its a tuning issue. Now if its at 5500 for example and it jumps up in rpm and does not move yeah its slipping. I believe the shifting is controlled by speed and rpm and both variable have to be met in order to shift if it does not meet one it will not shift.

I have been beating the hell out of my Rock-On 4L60E with my 638 rwhp driver and my son has been even harder on his Rock-On 4l60E in his 6.5 second (1/8th) Camaro. Both trannys are working great. Dave builds the strongest 4L60Es on the market. I think it's funny that you bad mouth Dave on the forum AFTER you wanted him to rebuild some brand x tranny and he refused. On one hand you're telling us how bad his trannys are then on the other hand you go back to him to get the brand x tranny rebuilt.........you sound like a street squirrel to me.

Mine used to bounce off the limiter between shifts, also. I had the PCM retuned to fix it. Problem solved. This all occured after I built a performance transmission and installed a Transgo 4L60-HD2 shift kit. I thought there was something wrong with the trans but my tuner assured me that it was the PCM and he fixed the tune. He said something about having to lower the shift rpm or something like that. Haven't had any more problems since then, oh forgot, that one got stolen! LOL

Good luck to you getting it fixed. Maybe Dave or the arbitrators will make a deal with you two to send it to a competent tuner for resolution. If the tuner can fix it, you pay for the service. If the tuner cannot fix it, Dave pays for the tune.
