Default Wheel spacer

I was thinking of getting a set of the ASA wheels and I know the sticky for the wheels says that we need the smallest spacer possible. I thought I heard that spacers were not good to use on a vehicle. Is there any truth to this?

The problem I heard with the spacers is that it throws the weight of the vehicle off of the hub, lugs, etc from where it is supposed to be. It doesn't sound like that is a good thing..

Yeah don't ASA wheels have a bad rep around here for breaking? I would only want a set of spacers for the back because the back wheels tend to tuck in more and it looks goofy.

There won't be a problem as long as your running a thin spacer. Your not losing much thread on the studs. Now if you run a thick spacer (3/8 inch or bigger per say) then I would run longer hardened studs. The spacer required to make ASA wheels sit flush against the rotor hub is small enough I wouldn't worry about the studs. I've been running the wheels with spacers for a while now with no ill effects. I check the lug nut torque from time to time and its dead on. Pro_Perfomer if you get ASA wheels come up to my shop and I'll put em on for you and I can get the spacers too. Just let me know.

I've off roaded with jeeps that have 37" tires and pretty big spacers. We off road hard and they havn't had a problem.

Well those jeeps probably have stronger hubs and stronger lugs.

Probably but some are on stock axles with 35" boggers with wheels spacers. Usualy the wheel spacer isn't the week point but i guess i'm comparing apples to oranges

Why wouldn't you just get wheels that are fitted for the car.

I did get wheels fitted for my car. Called tirerack and ordered year, make, and model. Maybe mine weren't machined correctly or ASA didn't check fitment close enough. Its a tiny, tiny gap but enough to rattle the rotor retaining torx bolts loose causing the rotors to rattle.
