Default Locked keys in car/warranty question

So yesterday I locked the keys in my car because I am an idiot. Called the locksmith and he came and popped my door open.
He was a real greasy lookin dude, a bit shady. He told me he was a private investigator as well which explains alot.

Anyways, he said "do you want to know how to get your money back from this?" I said sure. He told me that since my car has <36k miles on it (still covered by B2B), I can go to the dealer, show them my locksmith receipt and they'll reimburse me. I asked why and he said "they just do, most locksmiths won't tell you that."

Has anyone ever heard of this or is he full of it?

Think I remembered roadside assistance for lock out. Unless they did it w/ onstar.

If my battery died I'd need a pick 'cause I can't get my key in the door - dumbest thing yet.

Onstar, can do it if you have that one year safe and sound plan.

There is some general crap that you get with your car when you purchase it. As in free towing "if warranty". Also 5 gallons of gas if you run out on the road and some other crap its in the manual

Yeah I thought it sounded greasy. I'm gonna check my manual after work. I don't think it's worth going to the dealer and looking like an ******* for $50 bucks.

I probably wouldn't bother. But I guess 50 bucks is 50 bucks. I assume you don't have OnStar since you didn't use that.

You can extend On-Star I did and pay every quarter.

Yea, I extended mine, but just pay mine for the whole year. Odds are I'll never need it, but I like knowing it's their in the event that I flip my car into a ravine and break my neck and can't reach my cell phone.

Buff pointed out that if we don't use our keys, the cylinder seizes. Mine is one - can't unfreeze it, rust eater, lock pick set, nothing - any suggestions?

Leave a rear seat slightly loose (not locked closed). Use your key to open the trunk cylinder and crawl on in.
