Default Exhaust Cutout or Borla XR1

Cant decide whether i want an electric cutout so i can controll the noise or have a single exhaust kick out in front of the passenger tire to help flow and lose some muffler weight. anybody have cutouts? what kind of gain? how do you like them?

I have a cutout and I love it. I can cap it up and have it as quiet as a honda inside for longer trips or keep it open around town. I'm not sure about the gain as I don't really care about power in the FWD, I did it for the sound. I removed the resonator and I get a lot of people who like the exhaust note with the open cutout.

I love the sound with the cutout open but I will admit it can get on your nerves after a while. As far as gains go, I didn't really see any. It feels like it pulls harder in the higher rpms but loses some on the low end. At the track, with it closed I had better 60' times than with it open, but I trapped higher with it open...so I ran pretty much identical 1/4 times. FWIW

If you're using the car for long trips or commuting or anything I would go with the cutout all the way, no question. It makes the car more pleasant and increases the odds your friends will be game for long road trips in your car, etc.

I have a buddy with a Charger R/T that is running a loud *** exhaust and he always gets pissed because my friends want to roll in my car, not his. His is cool for the first ten minutes, but feeling your teeth vibrating does get old, fast. Doesn't bother me too much, but some of the other people on the trip weren't car people and didn't want to listen to it on a road trip from MI to TX.

If you care about your neighbors a cutout is also a politer option for when you come cruising home at 3 am. They're also useful when the fuzz is about, loud cars lead to radar guns being aimed your way, etc.

If this is mostly a goofing around car then you could likely skip the cutout and just rig it up to be fun and loud.

I plan on going the cutout option for the reason u all mentinoed. I do take long drives, and if someone is complaing about loud car you can instatally make it quiet

i think ill probably go with a cutout and put it where the resonator usually is. the electric cutout hard to wire up? electric crap is the one part of these cars im not super comfy with i would like to learn though, do you have to do any drilling to get the switch inside?

I want the same thing the e-cutout before the resonator...couldn't you just run the wires through the grommet in the passenger side floor??? then run the wires under the dash and mount the switch where ever...

Not to mention they can ticket you if they really want to for an excessively loud exhaust.

colorado state law technically, is set up so that ANY exhaust modifications is illegal. even if it was quieter.

For once, Illinois law is less restrictive on something. We are only banned (State-wide) from modifications to the exhaust that increase the volume of it (and of course any emissions violations from the moving of the cat-con even a fraction of an inch from the Feds and the locals). Of course, individual counties/towns can have more restrictive laws on anything they want here.

ok well what do you think gets better gains between the cut out and the magnaflow setup about the same?
KL237 sounds like you shold rig up a switch so you can open that cutout halfwy down the track

I heard the XR1's once and that was enough. They would be LOUD all the time, a cut-out gives you more options. To me, it is a no-brainer, go with an electric cut-out.

cutout for sure, waiting for my QTP E cutout to come, but have a summit cutout and love the sound, can cap it and uncap it in about 30-60 seconds for sure, no lifting or anything. but when i get my E i will just flip the switch, also am gonna get DOD disabled.
