"Nice" Email From Pontiac
No new info here, but I guess it's the thought that counts.
"Dear Ryan,
I wanted you to hear directly from General Motors about an important
announcement we made recently to phase out the Pontiac brand by year end 2010. As a Pontiac owner, you are part of a rich heritage and tradition that had its inception back in 1926. Pontiac has some of the best-looking, best-driving and best-engineered cars in the U.S., and this was a particularly difficult business decision for us to make.
As a valued Pontiac and General Motors customer, I want to assure you that we are very sensitive to your concerns and needs. Pontiac will continue in operation through the end of 2010 and, following that date, you will continue to be able to receive service on your Pontiac vehicle at any Buick-Pontiac-GMC Dealer. Your Pontiac vehicle warranty coverage is unchanged. Please refer to your vehicle warranty booklet for specific details on your vehicle's coverage.
As GM reinvents itself for you and our future customers, we want to thank you for your business. We will work hard to keep you in our family, providing some of the finest quality vehicles in the world.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call our Pontiac Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-762-2737.
Sincerely,
Susan E. Docherty

I cant believe they would kill pontiac. Why not kill buick, and merge it in with cadillac. Buicks are old people cars, and a decked out buick costs near what a cadillac costs anyway, so why not just make a cheaper line of cadillacs for the buick people?

Then hang on to it for at least 25 to 30 years. At that point, it might be worth something.

the reason they dont want to rid buick is because of there reputation. Buick has a stellar reputation for customer service, stemming all the way back to its inception. If you owned a buick, you were treated with the highest regards at any GM dealership for service. This made for many repeat customers, and many of them are still customers to this day. This is the reason they didnt want to drop buick, because of its claimed "prestige"

This is good information to know, thanks for posting it. I didn't receive the email about my GP GXP.
I think it's a real shame they are killing Pontiac when GMC is a complete waste of time. All they are is rebadged Chevys... right? And I don't know anybody who willfully buys a Buick. I know a lot of people who like Cadillacs, and when a CTS is only 32K, why would you settle for a 28Kish Buick? You can get a similar Chevy for a better price without Grandma styling, or go for broke and get a Caddy.
Chevy = good
Pontiac = sporty
Buick = why?
Cadillac = luxury
