Default Warranty

So I have noticed on Ebay that a lot of the 07's are listed as having a 7 year 100,000 mile power train warranty.

Is that something you had to buy from GM when the car was purchased?

Wouldn't that come if you got a "certified used" one?

Yup! After reading about possible tranny failures (via this forum), I decided to take them up on their offer and paid extra for extended warranty. Of course, had the car almost 2 years and haven't used the warranty once.

All '07 Chevy's get the 100k powertrain warranty. Did yours not come with it?

You should call the dealer and ask about your warranty status. I'm sure they can tell you how much longer or when it will expire.

exactly what Chris said...

07's got the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty... it's not an extended warranty that you have to buy, it COMES with it for 07's....

06's had the normal 36000 mile warranty....

LS4SPEED....nope mine was just a normal used car deal. So even if I don't have the 5/100,000 then at least I have that extra warranty to fall back on.

I looked it up online and it says the 07's had a 5/100,000 mile warranty...so is that one transferable as well? I am the 2nd owner. (First owner was a business in Florida...it was used as an executive's car for people traveling to that business in Florida)

yes, it is transferable. Is the the warranty you purchased aftermarket or GM? and is it bumper to bumper? How much did it cost you?.

If it is just drivetrain warranty then I will go back and get a refund as you are already covered, if it is bumper to bumper ,then you should analyze how much you paid for it to the additional benefits you may receive (air conditioner, waterpump, etc.

If dealer gives you a hard time, cancel the warranty to receive the remaining balance, and go to small claims court for the rest.

It is mostly Bumper to Bumper...doesn't cover pads, rotors, electrics etc...it wasn't much more money...added 1 a month to my overall car payment...so no biggie. Just wanted to know if i was covered on the engine and trans until 2012/100,000.

I will ask the dealer when I go get my new stereo...thanks everyone!!!

yes, you are covered, factory warranty goes with the car not the owner.

Mine came with the 100,000 powertrain warranty, but I bought the 60,000/72 month "Major Guard" policy for $1,500.
