Default another exhaust question

Ok so i already have the magnaflow cat back on the car and its just not loud enough for me. and no i dont want to invest in a cut-out. im going to keep the magnaflow res and remove the mufflers and buy 90* bent stainless tubing my question is how do i go about using the factory hanging point? the hangers are welded to the mufflers. i know there was one guy on here that did it just dont know how. any suggestions?

Well a muffler shop has pre- bent hangers that they just weld on once they get everything lined up

My magnaflow cat-back is loud, because of my 3inch hogan downpipe with cat.
When I just had only the magnaflow cat back for a mod, it was too quite, i was like thats it...

The Magnaflow cat/back sucks IMHO.

Take everything off but the Magnaflow res, and then get an exhaust shop to make a custom pipe going all the way back and split into 2. Put some nice tips on the end and enjoy your new exhaust.

The Magnaflow with 409SS will get surface rust where 304SS will not and looks alot better.

Also, the downpipe doesnt really make that much difference since our stock pipe is not that restrictive from factory. I had the hogan DP7 and after 500 miles, I sold it because of the lack of exhaust sounds.

I had a factory downpipe and it measured 2 1/4" in dia. The Hogan is mandrel bent and a full 3" in dia. I noticed a HUGE improvement in performance; especially up top. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the factory DP is a pipe within a pipe. This was done at the factory to reduce engine noise. The outside may look large but the inside is very small for a V-8. The V-6's are the same exact way. A new larger dia. DP will wake the car up especially in the upper RPM's. Well, every car is different.

I would ditch the resonator first, should perk up the mufflers considerably.

Nope, do the opt of that.

I was running the magnaflow system with a straight pipe in place of the res and it made no differences. I then put the res back on and removed the mufflers and got the sound I really wanted.

MCSS07 do you have any shots of your exhaust? im not getting rid of the magnaflow pipes theyve already been paid for. you are correct they do look like *** but im not that all concerned about how they look. just intend on removing the mufflers and running straight pipes. just curious how you guys that did this ran your hangers.

I dont have my cam with me right now, but in the next few weeks I will.

I went through about 1200.00 in exhaust parts including the magnaflow system, Hogan down pipe and res. straight pipe from hogan before I got sick of everything and took it all off, started with just the res and got the exhaust custom made from there.

The main problem I found with the magnaflow is that it will rub on your rear sway bar if you do not check it often.

As for the hangers I believe the tech just welded a few on each side of the straight pipes while he was welding on my tips.

I have the catless downpipe and the Magnaflows, and love it. The Flowmasters were too loud without the CAT, and I do alot of highway driving.

i dont mind loud i run my 80 with headers straight back to flowmaster 40s no cats and that was my daily driver for 8 years. loud is good as long as you can back it up. the magnaflows just not loud enough.
