So,
Looking at my rear tires today, the original GY RSAs are toast. The inside of them are totally worn down to what looks like scratches, but they have 42K miles on them so I'm not too bummed about it.
I purchased a pair of GY F1 A/S tires about a year ago which are on the front now. I like them a lot. They are a great improvement over the RSAs and would like to get another pair, but they are about $255 each. For $227 each I can get some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. Does anyone here have experience with these?
I also was considering some Pirelli P Zero Nero tires which are only $152 each. I had these on my Mustang and they were great...for 16,000 miles... Then they were like driving on waxed paper after that. The price on them for my SS is great (relatively speaking), and the way these cars eat up rear tires,
, fast wearing may not be an issue, but still I would rather not pay for tires every year and a half.
So does anyone here have the Michelins on their car? How do you like them? What other all season tires do you guys recommend?
Thanks

Yeah,
I heard good things about them as well. Tirerack rated them top in their class, which included both the GYs and the Michelins... and they are $188 each. Hmmm...one more thing to think about.

Hey I have a 01 Z28 and I had the michelin pilot sport a/s tires on my car. I dont think much of them after about a year and 15k on them they began to get real loud and would not hold traction much when it was wet without getting into it. I might have just got a bad batch of tires cause I know it is a good brand but just werent good this time around. I got a set of kumho asx's and they have been great not loud or wearing down much and i got about
10k on them already and still like new besides a few burnout's lol

I work for Discount Tire, and Michelin makes the best tire. With tires, you get what you pay for. Most people hate the cost of a michelin tire, but I've never heard anyone say "I should of never bought these tires". If you balance and rotate your tires, it will cut down on the road noise and make them last longer. Go with the michelin's, you will be extremely happy.

I rotated mine and kept the proper air pressure and got them re-balanced a few times so I dont know. Like I said I must have got a bad batch. My family has always used that brand without much problem so i dunno lol

No kidding, just about twice as expensive as the last set of all seasons I bought.
I put the Pilot Sport A/S on the front in September. Not noticing any additional wheel noise.
Winter traction was pretty good, but with all the salt/sand/gravel still on the roads, I can't really tell how the dry traction is - wheels broke loose at 30-40 kmh a couple of times during some impatient driving on the way home from work on Friday....

Yeah.
I'm beginning to realize that any Ultra High Performance tire, all season or otherwise will not last long. There's a trade-off. Sure you can run a UHP tire for 40,000, but it will not perform better than a budget tire after around 20,000. I have seen this on all my cars. The tires "lasted" for 40-45,000, but were really nothing special after 16,000.
I got sick of replacing tires on my Mustang every 1.5 years so I put on some Yokohama YK520s. They have an "80,000" mile life, have been on for around 30K now and are still brand new looking...but from day one they never gripped as well as the Pirellis, GYs or Falkins...but they have lasted twice as long as any of them and I have no doubt that they have another 40K left on them.
I like the GY Eagle F1s I have now on my SS, so I just purchased another pair to match the others. But damn, they are expensive. Thanks for all your thoughts.
I will probably be posting a similar message in 18 months when the 'ol girl chews through these tires.

LOL,
That's making the most of your tires:
0-1,000 - Bitch about how expensive these tires are
1,000-10,000 - Compete in events and show off the cool tread
10,000-20,000 - Enjoy a well good performing tire
20,000-30,000 - Enjoy a reliable commuter tire
30,000-40,000 - Drive carefully in the rain with your reliable tire
40,000-40,003 - Enjoy monster burnouts
40,003 - start process over with new tires...
The circle of life...

I got these tires on the front last fall, they are phenomenal. When the roads are clean and warm I’ll run out of nerve before I run out of traction in a curve. Never had that problem with the stock tires. I was forever sliding around corners on a couple of my favorite roads. Acceleration is significantly better. I can definitely give it more gas in 1st gear. Its pretty nice out I should be able to get some 60’ times with the G-tech. In the snow they weren’t half bad. North central IL and the ride to work in the snow was so uneventful I could have fell asleep.

Yeah me to but i pulled the trigger and got two for the front. So far I'm likin' these. I've got goodyears on the back with a lota tread left, but I'm thinkin that I just may go out and get two more for the back when the weather warms some to see how they preform.

All right got on a back road with the G-tech and ripped off a 2.268, 2.289, & a 2.277 back to back to back. Last year with stock tires on I would average 2.4ish 60’ times on the same road. I didn’t mess with the tire pressure at all so there’s probably room for improvement?

Been runnin' the Pilot sport a/s+ tires for 7,000 miles now and still
absolutely love them. Got them from Tire Rack and have no complaints.
Grabs the pavement much better than the stock Michelin HX MXM4's that
came stock on the Supers. Only complaint, they're also rock and pebble
grabbers.
