why would you only put 89 in it??? .....is the extra $1 per fill up to go from mid grade to premium breaking your bank?

it was .20 more per gallon actually and premium burns faster so i prefer 91 but not many gas stations offer it around here and you didnt answer my question just gave me one....i was just wondering

so at even at $0.20 per gallon extra you would have saved at most $3..........to answer your question, running one tank of 89 octane will not destroy you engine......moving forward, stop being extremely cheap at spring for the extra $3 per fill up at your station and get the proper octane gas that the car was designed to run...

Premium burn cleaner and better so you should be better MPG when running it VS. running 89.

Faster? I thought premium burned slower. Or am I just confusing this with higher octane resistance to igniting?

idk just from personal experience i feel like i go through 93 way faster then the others and after i noticed this my other friend who has been using premium for longer then i says he agrees thats why he uses the middle grade...i do notice a lil better performance tho which is why on the occasion i raced the tank before i would switch to 93

higher octane gas actually burns slower than lower octane...

you probably go through it quicker cuz you're on the pedal more enjoying the extra power you have when you do use good 91/93 octane gas... hehe...

You'll get a ton of KR using 89 with a 91 octane tune. Most likely, you'll wind up going slower than the stock tune because you won't see anything close to full timing. And if your car is like mine, you'll see tons of KR on the stock tune with 91 octane. I wouldn't dick around with 89 under any circumstances.

I don't think it takes too long for inaudible detonation to do a number on an engine. If you don't know your tip in a/f as well as your full power a/f I. think it can be dangerous. Also, especially in summer gas with methanol deteriorates quickly.
