First off, Hello!
I've been searching and reading a lot of the threads on here for awhile and decided to join.
Guess I'll jump right in. If I go with a catless Hogan downpipe and a bigdaddiesgarage CEL fix, am I going to really get anything out of it if I don't tune the car right away? Places that will do a good tune are few and far between around here and they are usually pretty proud of thier work and command a pretty penny.
Basically, as long as I don't get a CEL, will I get any gain at all from going with the catless. I'm really wanting to wake second gear up just a little and I don't have a ton of cash to throw at the car.
Thanks for any info. You guys have a pretty good site going on here.

how's it going man.
the catless dp swap is one of my favorite mods. great power from it because its 3" mandrel bent single wall pipe instead of the double wall stock piece that is less than 2" in diameter.
with a tune, it will certainly make some decent power because the car's afr has been thrown off depending if you have a cai as well.

But yeah, we have traction issues. Especially once you get past catback/CAI.

Thanks guys.
This is what I wanted to hear.
I came from the world of 5.0 Mustangs where you could do all this stuff and not worry what the computer thought. So, it's a bit of a learning curve with this car.

Looks good, man. I'd take off the side moldings and GM badges if you're looking to clean it up some. I think that's what most of us have done.
Also, on a serious note, either a cutout or a muffler swap would give you some more power.

My Thrush Afterburners sounded very good, just a little quiet for my taste. Plus they ranked in the top 3 or 5 (can't remember at the moment) aftermarket mufflers on dyno tests. (Spintech was the first and, imo, should be on EVERY LSx car.)
Bottom line, if you're looking for power, a chambered muffler is NOT where it's at.
