Default ecutout blowing fuse

I installed my ecutout yesterday and it keeps blowing my fuse. I have it hooked up to my cigarette lighter. I am pretty sure I have it hooked up right. I checked and rechecked but it keeps blowing my fuse. Any suggestions.

Where'd the other thread go?

Why is it hooked to a DC adapter? Try hardwiring it.

I'm talking about the plug that goes in the lightet, or it is wired to the socket?

Post a pic. I had mine wire to the fuse panel under the hood, connected to the bolt, qnd I grounded it near there, I'll post pics later.

The ground may not be large enough for what the cutout draws along with the socket. Try hardwiring it to the fuse box under the hood like JP did, or I put mine on the fuse box inside the car(not sure what car you have though) on the pass side.

If I where u I would run a independent line the high torque motor sucks up a lot if power I doubt the small gauge wire on the cig lighter is enough to support the current load

I called dmh and he said the switch could be bad so he is sending me a new switch and I will start there then move to moving my power source. I thought people were using the cigarette lighter for their cutouts

I've honestly never seen anything wired in like that.

You are not wrong. I have it wired to the aux power socket ( cig lighter) with a heavy double pole/double throw switch in the far front of the depressed area of the center console. The wiring is plenty heavy enough to run my cutout without any problem what so ever. My guess is you have a 1) short somewhere or 2) your wiring is incorrect or 3) a faulty cutout motor. It is not uncommon to get a bad cutout motor.
The switch should be a double pole, double throw, self centering, with center off. This means the switch is spring loaded to return to center position (off) when released. 2 (+ -)wires from the cutout go to center terminals, 2 power wires (+ -) go to left or right terminals. the left and right terminals are wires together with an X (criss crossed wires) so polarity switches when switch thrown left or right (or up or down).

That is the same switch I have. Dmh is sending me a new switch to see if that is the problem
