You have got to be kidding me.
Just out of curiosity, how many people in the Failed Transmission Club were using a CAI or K&N style drop in filter?

Just had mine replaced at dealer. Thank you GM for the 5/100k warranty. First replacement, hesitation at 1800-2200 rpms shifting at 40/60/80 mph. 1.5 days later "refurbished" transmission mis-shifting into 2nd gear. At dealer for a month total, free rental

Added you to the list!
Just lost my tranny in the 2006 GXP. Chronic torq flutter at high speed first, then slipping all over. 110k on her but just validates all I read back when i researched buying this one. New TX from dealership seems finicky as well but only a few miles on her yet. How adaptive are we talking here? I mean a few 100 miles or a 1000? Really? Find that hard to believe.......

Actually, you made it much further than most. 110k is almost acceptable when dealing with a trans!
Usually, a new trans will take around 400-500 miles to get acclimated to your driving style. If it's still doing strange things after that, then you should probably take back to the dealer.
Oh, and I added you to the list.

mine went out around 72k and you already have me on the list and ive got 98k on it now and every now and again it likes to hang in third before shifting to overdrive ill tell you one thing ill get rid of it before i drop another 3 grand
Count me in for Transmission rebuild number 2. Didn't replace all the parts they needed to te first time (under warranty). So they had to rebuild the rest of it 10k later. Rebuild 1: 64000 mi., rebuild 2: 76000. Hopefully all problems have been sorted out. Also, have been running k&n cold air since around 40k. Dealer never said anything about it.
There are quite a few threads discussing this but this is what I have gathered.
Torque converter blows up. There is a relief valve sold by Sonnex that fixes the problem, but the entire trans needs to be taken apart to remove it. The core issue is this trans is rated for less power than the LS4 produces and GM tried to use electronics to manage it. Well as we can see it didn't work.
It doesn't matter how you drive your car (minus beating on it), it will eventually happen. Some of us got better transmissions than others. Hwy miles tend to help prolong it.

What the **** is up with GM? I just went through hell with a blown headgasket on a turdstar in my (no longer owned by me)deville. I found a 2008 lacrosse super with a small block and I thought "good, a real engine", but now I see it will be burning out its tranny soon! Great!!
What a ******* shame, Gm used to build bullet proof drivetrains.
Oh well.....
Anyway, I have 33600 miles on my super and so far(knocking on wood) its doing fine. After reading the horrors of this thread, I WILL be buying the GM extended warrenty before the factory one runs out!!
