65,000 miles and my tranny is leaking from the pan. I'm afraid to drop the pan for two reasons. 1. What kind of $hit I'm gonna find in there. 2. If I drop the tranny pan the stealership might deny my warrenty claim do to me cracking it open. And will someone explain this converter clunking deal. Mine has made a clunking sound when I quickly accelerate for a second then let off and then back in it again. Is that the converter clunking? And if all this falls under the quota for the list then add me.

It's unlikely that the dealer would deny warranty coverage for dropping the pan...After all it, the pan needs to come off to do a proper service (fluid AND filter change), etc.

As for converter clunk, that's not been something that is described too often here. Does it always do it under the circumstances you've described, or is it intermittent?

I'm thinking that could be a motor or trans mount.

Hmm...I'm not going to put you on the list, as I've not been counting failures on power-adder cars.

It doesn't seem right count them if the motor is making 150 lb-ft more than the transmission's rated capacity.

What are you going to do for a rebuild?

2007 Monte SS when it was stock with only a tuner and exhaust and CAI with the 4T65E-HD drove it hard for 38,000 miles never a bit of trouble. 2009 Impala LS with the 4T65E daily driver, drive it like my grandfather extremely easy - took it in today to the dealer 49,000 miles and for the last year the reverse to drive was a slam into gear, now the whole car shutters doing the same. Dealer gave me a rental , said they are familiar with the problem and will call me after they fix it, should take two days. We will see.

I have located a GM Racing aermet 100 input shaft that will allow tcc. It will require the smaller diameter pump shaft from zzp. After that I don't know. Probably at least better clutches with more clamping pressure from more line pressure or a different piston.

Intermittently, as for it being a motor mount issue, I don't remember it doing it prior to me flipping the front motor mount. Maybe I'll flip it back and see. Thanks.

Forgot to update, but I took my car into the dealer. They replaced the shift solenoid and said my 2nd gear clutches were burnt. Replaced that as well. All is well...for now haha.

I'm surprised they didn't give you a full rebuild for that.

Add me to the list....

2005 GP GXP (bone stock except for K&N filter)

This is my 4th transmission.

Dec.21st, 2009
Oct. 21, 2010
Oct. 17th, 2011

All failed with in 26,000mi..... all leaked, all slipped then overheated.

All were replaced with Jasper transmissions. Thank God for a 3yr/100,000mi warranty, but I still pay labor/parts/shop supplies, and NOW a flow-thru test.

The above costs me about $800 a year to install a new tranny, and over 2 weeks of wait time because no ONE stocks these trannies'....

Vehicle has never been raced. No hole shots'. ALL HIGHWAY miles, no city driving. 40yrs old, and it's my family car.

Unknown to me at the time, bought the car with 22,000mi.... and already had the tranny replaced. So in all, 5 transmissions total...

Wow...That's shocking to see, even after maintaining this thread for nearly a year.

I know there are people who've had trouble with the Jasper rebuilds, too. I recommend seeing if you can get a trans built by Dave at Triple Edge Performance, as he builds a ton of these for our community, and they last.

Damn that is just crazy! You're a saint for sticking with the car. I would've ended that relationship after the 2nd or 3rd tranny.

I beat the **** out of mine @ 88k miles and I still have the original tranny. That just isn't fair to guys like you, GM really needs to step up. But with all these failures I figure it's just a matter of time before it goes kaboom as well.

Well, I told Jasper before this next tranny is installed I want to see what changes have been made to the build order, or we are gonna have a serious problem... because i will not allow another OEM spec reman' tranny to be installed...

Low and behold, i received a fax in 5 minutes 1.5 pages long of all the revisions on this tranny...

The unfortunate part with the car is, i paid a low price for it in '09 ($11,500 with 22k mi.) but now no one wants it, and every dealer i took it too for a trade in, all but laughed or offered me half of the trade in value... i can hardly accept an offer of $3500 when i still owe $7000 on it... and with no second car, it sux...

After driving around with trans. issues, it finally died. My factory warranty ran out in March(and had it to the dealership 5 times before before the warranty expired and they denied anything was wrong). Now I have to rely on the aftermarket extended warranty. This sucks!

Moved you over from the problem list to the "died" list. Good luck with the replacement!

Picked up the car today. Of course nothing could be duplicated. Their transmission tech took my car home to try to duplicate problem. Checked codes and bulletins none were found. They did offer a tranny flush for $239.00. My CPO warranty is expiring in 3 weeks, so I'm sure the next time it happens I will be told I need a tranmission.

Perhaps try another dealer, if there's one reasonably close. A cooperative dealer makes all of the difference in the world.

On an unrelated, list was updated today.

Default 08 GXP trans

Hi, Im new to the forum and noticed the Big trans problems with these cars
from reading into them. I just purchased a 08 GXP with 62000 on it and looking into the past service records this car had a trans replaced at 42500.
Seems pretty strong now with no issues but only drove it for 1/2 a day.
I have read the thread on a trans cooler and would like to put one on to prolong the life for sure. Anyway I thought this would help your case to have another prix owner with a trans replacement..

thanks
Chris

they rebuilt it. said the turbine shaft snapped in half. Car doesn't fell quite right yet. Has almost no throttle response. might be a computer issue.
