DOD mode?? use ur info panel to show the 8cyl or 4cyl mode, when it rpm jumps, it switches to 4cyl mode

RPMs don't change on the DoD transition, at least not by itself (on my car).

It could be any number of things, though I would lean towards a flare due to slippage, or possibly the TCC disengaging early at the 3-4 shift.

Hopefully, the dealer will have something to say.

it's not DOD. The car is still in 8cyl mode when it happens. I notice when i happens and it used to make that last shift nice and smooth and still sometimes does (seems like when it is cool).

even though I just bought mine in April with 83K, it has had a few hick-ups this week. It will need rebuilding or replacing.

Added you to the list. Please let us know when it dies or when you get it rebuilt/replaced.

My '06 Impala SS was rebuilt (?) for a shift solenoid last month. The symptom was slipping from take off, and occasionally with heavy acceleration if already moving. More noticable when taking off and turning left, but just before the work was done it was just about any launch from a stop. This took several trips to a couple of dealers to get them in the car and demonstrate before one of them finally acknowledged the problem. Funny how many complaints seem to be out there, but they all claim they haven't heard of any problems or complaints before me.

Now four weeks later the left turn slip and grind is starting again. Back to the dealer next week.

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully, they put a replacement unit in it, but even then, it's likely you'll have problems in the future. Search this forum for solutions, and the way forward will become apparent.

Thumbs down

add me to the list... started happening 2 weeks ago thought it was just the brutal heat and humidity just giving the car issues. Nope 1st gear rev and bang here.

I have a 2007 gotta find out when the build date or sold date is to make sure its still under GM's 5/100K. I am going to be taking it to my friend who works at the local caddy dealer he said he would make sure its done right. But is all the tech bullitin stuff in this thread that I might want to jot down for him to make sure if its somethign he cant "reproduce" to verify it that the paper can say there is issues...

watch now that I typed this out..its going to totally lose 1st gear..

when I baby it, and let it walk out of a stop its fine. But if I give it gas right from brake..thats when it does it..sound right?

Car has been at the dealer a week with them trying to find anything wrong, and so far nothing. This is it's 3rd trip in and now my warranty will be up very soon. A friend of mine is good friends with a guy who does testing on new parts for sonnax. So I picked his brain a little and he gave me some very good info on our transmissions. So when I get the car back I'm going to be doing a few small upgrades to it, hopefully with the help and guidance from from the trans guy.

Default Tranny Probs 08 GP GXP

At 80,000 With minimal warning tranny goes completely out ( No Engine Light). Dealer replaced with new tranny not rebuilt. Cause was Torque Converter in pieces. Now, at 104,000 Chirping sound from tranny and frequent but mild slips. But goes and engages into every gear fine. Just while driving steady is when i feel the miss or brief slip. Tranny again? Please tell me i'm wrong!

i got the car back from the dealer and there was no issue found again. So im guessing at this point its a wash because the warranty is just about up. I got the vehicle history on work performed from a friend who works at a dealer and it seems the trans was never serviced. So i bought a case of dex IV and a new GM filter last week. Im gonna just drop the pan and let it drain as much as i can out of it. While the pan is off, i am also going to put my ZZP finned aluminum pan off my ZZP trans (from my gtp) on the car. Its doing me no good sitting in my garage and can only help keep my temps down. I plan on doing a cooler on the car either end of this year or early next year. I'm hoping with a new filter, new fluid, and pan it will help lower the temps a little as it is routinely going above 205 in 75ish degree weather in stop and go traffic.
