I took my GXP to the dealership again(2nd time). First time, the guy who rode around with me said he felt a slight shudder at one point. I left the car there all day today. The transmission tech. said he couldn't feel anything(really? what if you got slapped in the head? would you feel that?). I asked if they checked the fluid. "oh, well, it was a little burnt." It's only been in there for 1,000 miles. That doesn't indicate a huge problem? Their advice is drive a little more and bring it back. My warranty runs out Mar 22. Doesn't really give me a whole lot of time! Uggghhhh!!!! The GM customer service rep. said a district manager is suppose to call me tomorrow to discuss my issues. The service manager says he knows of the issues in this car because he drives a 2007 Impala SS. Other than that, he didn't say much

Just do a couple Neutral Bombs.
That will finish that trans off nicely

Added you to the list.

We're 95% highway miles, too. We only got to 56,000, then made it another 20,000 after the dealer rebuilt it.

Did you get a "stock" rebuild, or were there upgrades? Just curious.

Add me to the list.

Car viberates at almost any speed. Dealer says its tires, however, they are new and been road forced. **** the dealer!

Description:

2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. Slipping transmission, still under warranty, dealer says cannot repliciate issue. Car viberates horribly, slips into every gear. Dealer will not fix until transmission stops working all together. Car has been turned in for this issue 6 times. GM NEEEDS TO FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

had the car about a month now, no modifications as i want to keep it stock till the warranty is up. i expressed concern about the fluid smelling burnt and being brown/dark red when buying to see if i could get a flush out of it. But nothing came of it, and when asked was told that it is normal for it to be like that because im in the midwest. i bought the car with about 47k on it, it has 49k on it now. so i talked to another local dealer about the issue and they said no issue, bring it in and we will drop the pan and take a look as its well within warranty it needs to be looked at now. i was overly happy to hear this kinda service be offered up. so ill be traveling from mon-sunday for my job in a rental car, what better time to drop the car off for a little service/inspection. So it goes in on monday, ill let ya know in a week or so what came of it.

forgot to add it shifts funky every once in a while. itll shift soft into gear like its slipping, other times itll be firm and seem fine. just not a comfortable feeling when you feel it slip.

Rkvette - daughter's 2006 Monte Carlo SS. Trans had to be replaced at 44K. Dealer split costs with us, our part was about $1750. Monte now has 104K and running perfect. GM warrenty the tranny replacement for 100K. The problem was hot or cold the motor would rev up and catch (tranny) and go bang. They gave me a new loaner.

A few days before I was scheduled to bring it in, it suddenly lost all grip and left me stranded at a stop light. Wouldn't go in any gear, forward or reverse. Had to have it towed to the dealer. Ended up being a completely roasted torque converter. They replaced it plus all gaskets & seals, drive sprocket pressure control valve and the second gear clutch plates... did a complete fluid and screen service while they were at it... runs like a champ now. Good thing I had an aftermarket warranty that covered the $2792.48.

If you want to add mine to the list, mine would get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear when coming to a stop and when I went to accelerate it would slam into first and break the tires loose.

I had enough so I traded it in on my '06 Ram 2500 Cummins..... which has its own trans problems, LOL

I'd try to find another dealer. If the problem is that obvious, it's crazy that they're not even looking at it. You may also want to call the GM Customer Service number in the first post of this thread and get them to help you.
