New to site...
07 Impala SS 50K
Issues: Slip/Catch, Shudder
Dropped pan changed fluid and filter (ALL GM/ACDelco) @49K, and added extra magnet (TSB) A Lot of material in the pan and I have 3 pictures for documentation.
Still have an issue though after the service!!!!
At the dealership now for the second time- but throws NO codes...
I asked the dealership to keep it a couple of days to try and reproduce the issue,so im just hoping it will happen... Any advice? I love this car!

Welcome to the site!

You did the right thing by bringing it into the dealership. Just make sure they drive it a lot and I'm sure they'll see the problem. Typically, these issues do not throw PCM/TCM codes, so the only outward signs of problems are the symptoms themselves.

Let us know how it goes and I've added you to the list.

Dealership replaced the valvebody, covered under 5yr/100K GM warranty.
So I guess we will see how it does for a few miles... I have the warranty through Jan 2013 or 103000 miles, but I know the date will get me before the miles.
They kept it for 3 days, at least they did something...
But from reading the posts, if GM hasn't updated the valve body will this correct anything?

They probably assumed the seals in the valve body were bad, so they just replaced the whole thing. It will solve your problem for the time being, but there's no guarantee it won't happen again in the future.

this is the trans i am going with for the replacement should have it in and done next week sometime and got my extended warranty company to cover the 3500 bill for everything except fluids and from what my trans guy told me he will fill it with dex 3 because none of the rubber in the trans is meant for dex 6 and he showed me a trans in the shop out of a 01 that the guy flushed it with dex 6 and all the seals are ate up and the piston used to have molded rubber on it they found it in the pan as a sludge

i am having them tune it for near future mods like cat back and intake work also the shop is putting a 3yr/50,000 mile warranty on the trans so i cant go wrong
http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com/Transmissions.html

4T65E High Performance Street/Strip model
Starting at $1749.95

Our High Performance Street/Strip rebuilds include all of the features that the standard rebuild and steps it up a notch! Each High Perf rebuild is custom tailored to match your vehicle and performance level keeping in mind your current and future plans. With several hundered High Performance 4T65E rebuilds in the books since 2001 we have learned what works very well and a number of great combinations to be reliable with a wide array of power levels. The Base High Performance Street/Strip model will work well in a wide range of power levels from stock to roughly the 280-300whp level which is getting into the low 13 / high 12 second quarter mile mark. For power levels and goals higher than this we offer a few upgrades to keep the transmission durable and the main weak links of the 4T65E are the input shaft and the factory dual chain set and we can help which upgrades are best for your application. The reason we suggest this model over the standard type rebuild for the factory supercharged cars is due to the higher output of the supercharged engines in stock form. The 4T65E has basically no internal calibration changes between all of its models and options so this means that a transmission that was built for a 180HP engine is the same setup from the factory found behind the 300+HP LS4 5.3 V8 engine equipped vehicles. PCM/TCM tuning has a lot of effect on how these transmissions work and also has a direct effect on shift firmness and feel since the line pressure and shift points are controlled electrically and this is what helps make this transmission very versatile from the factory but has its limitations in the performance world. Many of the early High Performance rebuilds that we did were built to work with a 100% stock pcm tune and the result was a much quicker and firmer shifting transmission and not having to heavily rely on an aggressive tune. This works well for vehicles with stock to moderate buildups while higher HP setups will require custom pcm/tcm tuning for best results. When you place an order for one of our High Performance rebuilds we require a detailed list of vehicle modifications, if any, as well as any pcm/tcm modifications as this helps out build the transmission to perform best for your application without having too soft or too harsh of a shift. Below is a list of basic list of what goes into these rebuilds.

-Thorough inspection during dissassembly
-Any questionable or excessively worn hardpart is replaced
-Hardened 4th clutch shaft
-New Morse HyVo HV-093 V8 spec Gemini chain set
-Seals, gaskets, orings, and teflon sealing rings
-New USA made filter
-Borg Warner clutch plates and modified clutch stackup for improved shift feel
-Raybestos Zpack 3rd clutch set now standard in ALL High Performance rebuilds. Effective 1-01-11
-SPECIAL NOTICE!!!- The 4T60/65E Zpack was discontinued by Raybestos on 3-14-11.
We will continue to use this product until we are out of stock
*OUT OF STOCK*
-High Energy style 3rd friction plates will be used in place of Zpack frictions as they are discontinued
-New Forward apply band
-New thrust washers
-Common failure bushings replaced, others inspected and replaced as needed
-New stator support bearing
-Select bearings replaced standard, others inspected and replaced as needed
-New aftermarket input sun gear
-Reconditioned input clutch piston

All new solenoids in valve body including
-Borg Warner PCS for 97-02, OE AC Delco/Bosch for 03+ model years
-Borg Warner TCC PWM solenoid
-OE AC Delco shift solenoids

-Pressure switch manifold cleaned and tested, replaced as needed
-Wiring harness thoroughly tested and replaced as needed

-Sonnax Sure-Cure kit which includes these upgraded parts
-TCC apply valve
-TCC regulated apply valve
-TCC relief valve
-Improved boost valve and sleeve
-AFL valve and sleeve
-Lube tube retainer, improved check *****, pump slide pivot pin
-New for 2011+ rebuilds! Oversized Sonnax Torque Signal valve on more aggressive buildups

-Transgo Shift Kit- We slightly modify this kit for improved high throttle shift feel on modified cars as well as
make a few other changes internally to quicken and firm up shift feel. The extra modifications alone make a
very significant difference in shift feel and keep clutch packs alive under high powered abuse. We set up
every transmission different to best match the vehicle it will be installed in and this is why we must have
your specific vehicle details as we do not build a one-fits-all model.

Your extended warranty company is covering a complete TEP Street and Strip transmission? Can you please tell us what warranty company you have and how much the plan was?

I was way wrong I must have been talking to my guy about a TEP street/strip tranny but when i signed the paperwork i authorized a transmission from Certified (Pissed about that)
but he has opened it up for me and all the sonnex updates have been done and he ordered it with a rv torque converter to better handle the LS4
also found out that the rev slam ripped my front motor mount apart so have to order that in now

just not happy with a 1 month old car to me

Be careful with this. There are no licenses for Dexron III anymore, GM never renewed them and let them expire. What you get now will state something like "acceptable for use where Dexron III is called for". It cannot be called Dexron III anymore.

On another note, the Dexron IV is backwards compatible with Dexron II and Dexron III. GM spent a lot of time on the fluid, I would find it hard to believe that GM would release a fluid that would damage all transmissions that called for Dexron III, which is basically every transmission before 2006.

For instance, my car is a 2005 Cadillac STS, it calls out Dexron III-H as the required fluid, in 2006 the STS had the same transmission, but was filled with Dexron VI. Same goes for the Grand Prix from 05 to 06. Pretty sure they used the same trans.

i thought about dex IV but the warranty states that you have to put dex 3 in it for warranty to be valid so thats what i had them put in it

side note got the beast back today and it seemed a little slow on take off like it was going to do the rev slam again so i took it back and there was an update to the shift tables and when they did it it has to learn again but by the afternoon it was feeling good
the shifts are very responsive and you can have fun with the car again

lets just hope it holds up because it was down a week and i dont like driving anything but my car

Well unless it is old stock of Dexron III, it isn't Dexron III anymore.

Add mine to the list of replacements and has been at the dealer for a week. My wife was driving the car as well, so it was driven like a baby. Went out of town for a couple of weeks, SS sat in the garage. Come back started her up let her get to operating temp outside of the garage and the trans started making a noise drove maybe 10 miles back in the garage and gave her a look over, nothing out of the ordinary. Next day the noise was louder and went you touched the gas it increased drove no more than 15 miles and then straight to the dealer.

If the transmission craps out in my GXP it better do it before the 5yr is up in september. I WILL be purchasing extended coverage at that time for sure!
