The best thing you can do to make our tranny rock solid is pray to your holy figure & buy a homeless guy a 40 or two... Good luck!

A cooler t-stat will do you no good...but a trans cooler will help.

The only way to make these transmissions stronger is to rebuild them with better parts.

The logic behind a cooler Tstat is a cooler thermostat in the cooling system keeps the radiator cooler and in turn keeps the transmission fluid cooler, since it is cooled in a chamber in the radiator.

Tranny cooler is a good idea, most good ones are thermostaticly controled for oil flow to allow quicker warm up and to start functioning at or about 160*

As for the EC thermostat, WARNING leave it alone! Your car is computer controlled and if you were to monitor it you would see that it does not go into closed loop until 88*c/ 190*f. THIS A VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE

Call Dave @ TEP and buy a trans or at least a valve body, seal kit, and Sonnax converter valve.

Thee's simply no such thing as a bulletproof stock trans in an LS4 car, not even with a shift kit and cooler.

Your comment would be the first I've heard about it, and you really didn't say anything other than you've "read terrible things."

Please elaborate, if you wish to be taken seriously.

Putting transmission fluid in the oil is a good way to ruin the motor. Modern day oil has detergents that clean the motor, so there's no need to anything but oil in it.

How is transmission fluid going to ruin a motor? Its oil just not a thick as motor oil? Adding a half a qt. or so isn't going to do anything by clean the engine. Transmission fluid has more detergents than motor oil. I've seen diesel engines run with nothing but transmission fluid for over 1000 miles and it didn't do any damage.

Back in the day , when transmission oil was basically mineral oil/whale oil this practice was and acceptable means of upper cylinder cleaning. With todays mostly man made tranny fluids it is not really a safe method of internal cleaning. The most common practice today is to change your gasoline engine oil using diesel engine motor oil for 500- 1000 miles and then returning to conventional gasoline approved motor oils. This practice should be done no more than one time in 50,000 miles. As for deisel engines the practice is mostly use 1-2 cups of deisel fuel in oil and idle/high idle for no more than 15 minuites, drain and refill as manufactures recommendations. (there is also a warning with this method, do not use engine under load conditions... may turn a main bearing)
