There's a place in Syracuse, NY called United Radio that works on any type of radio, speedometer heads on cars and a ton of other stuff. They also unlock radios for only $25 which is probably a hell of a lot cheaper then going to the dealer. Obviously you can't go there since you're down in Lousiana but do a little research and calling around and you might come up with a similar company.

Newer GM radios no longer use codes. They need to be unlocked with a TechII at a dealer, or by someone in posession of a TechII.

Go to the dealer and negotiate with them to do it for 1/2 an hour labor. It's fair for the time of the tech. From what I have read it's a really quick procedure.

alright. im assuming the plug something into the radio, so i might just go with everything undone and ready to go, and tell them i can hook everything back up, just to unlocked the radio

They don't plug anything into the radio. The Tech2 connects to the OBD2 port.
