Default Anyone else have a "noisy" trans?

I only hear it while driving with the windows down and next to a concrete wall or the like. Kinda sounds like a car that needs brakes and the sensors are scraping the rotors.

If I let off the gas the noise is still there but if put in neutral it goes away. The only problem I currently have with the trans is a intermittent slip from a dead stop. It's currently still under factory warranty so, I'm not to concerned with it but it does have me wondering.

Weird. I've heard these trannys whine, which is usually the front pump or converter, but never a squeal.

If I had to guess, I would say converter, since it goes away in neutral.

Yeah, it is weird but not really a squeal, maybe like a clicking or rattling. I was thinking the converter as well, just wondered if anyone else noticed this noise before.

Hopefully the whole trans goes soon.

Converter starting to come apart. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Get it changed under warranty and make sure they give you a new re-man. trans. with a new converter. After that, get a trans. cooler if you don't have one already.

I hear it in 4 or 8 cyl mode. I believe it's the converter about to self-destruct.

I'd love to hear if you find the problem!! I've had the same exact noise before and after a transmission replacement in the same exact scenario (echo near buildings). It was a brand new trans too not rebuilt.

I even brought the car back afterward and the tech rep said it was "normal engagement of the DOD system" and said it was the timing chain.

Check and see if the noise is still there after you give it some brief throttle. The tapping ticking noise will go away in my car at more than partial throttle then once I settle in again at a constant speed there will be a 2-3 second delay before I hear it engage. If there is a delay between when you let off the throttle and when the noise starts, I would guess you have the same issue.

It also goes away if I put it into 2nd or 1st gear in TapShift. It would be very easy to test if you had TapShift...

At any rate hopefully you find the problem, it's not the most pleasant sound to hear especially in the summer with the windows down.

In my case it the sound changes with speed, not RPM. Pretty sure it's not engine related, it's the trans.

I have the same exact problem. Only hear it when I'm next to a wall or something. My transmission was fully rebuilt two months ago too. :S

Sounds good. Looks like moving to the country side, next to a lake will solve the problem. Thanks man
