Default Ok tires larger than factory.. questions from those that have them

If I go to a Falken 275/40 R18 on the 18x8 alcoa'08 rims these are a ZR rating. Should I go to a 18x8 on the back ( don't wanna put 275's on the back of the car so Im not looking for tire rotation.. or should I stick to a 18x7 and go to a 245 or 255?? what side wall 40, 45, or 50??? No rubbing not looking for a tire that barely fits,, you know? Bigger tires help modded engines for traction and torque steer at all?? Tire recommendations better than Falken. Nothing thats gonna wear out too quickly. Something in between.

Thanks to anyone!!

Derek

I'm running 275/40 Cooper Zeons on my Turbo GXP - they are a great driving tire with increased road feel. I still have stock size on the back.

i have ran factory,as well as 275's and tires not as wide factory. 275s are pretty nice, i would recommend getting them. can be a bitch to get on the rim depending on the type of tire machine you have.

I ended up ordering 18x8 OEM wheels on all four corners and Falken 255/45R18 on all 4 corners as well. I'm sure it will look fine. Now I can rotate the tires as well. Don't care about cornering. Straight line only. Look a little more beefy from behind with the 8"s.

Have your new shoes shown up, Z? I'm interested in doing something similar for my summer shoes and running Impala SS Wheels with winter tires

Will have them on the car with an alignment next friday in 6 days! Garages are busy this time of year. Everyone's getting their winter wheels off and their summer tires on.. I get the fancy tire mount machine which doesn't touch the wheel! YAY.. lol
