When u get that new water pump be very gentle tightening those bolts the flange on that thing is very soft it will crack easy I did it on my car when I put my motor back together and didn't realize it until it started and started slinging water everywhere

Already done, been tuning with hptuners for years lol

On what? I upgraded all my exhaust manifold bolts to grade 8 stainless as well. Ordered two new band clamps for the exhaust, dual bolt style instead of the singles. Gonna swap those out, hopefully have this thing up and running by tuesday. I guess i needed the break anyway to deal with some little meticulous tedious stuff that needs addressing. Some more wire routing issues etc... and bending that damn trans dipstick into place.

You know, normally i would agree with you, but the owner did everything that was expected of him with the car. Car guys like us are a different breed, we are meticulous over every detail, where as regular car owners are not, and you can't fault them for that. He paid for his maintenance to be done by mechanics that he thought were competent, and they werent, and he suffered the price by letting his 35k car go for $1000 bucks a couple years after purchase. I often find myself annoyed like that over why people dont do this or that, but thats something that only car guys can appreciate. We see the car as an extension of ourselves, the car we drive represents us, so we want it to be always at its best. It's like your clothes you wear, the clothes make a statement about who you are as a person, where as to the regular person, a car is a hunk of metal with 4 wheels that gets them from A to B, and they do what is required of it maintenance wise, and never have a thought about anything else other then the fact that they assume it should work for a long period of time. Guy dumped 6 g's into the car before I got it for repairs, and he probably would still own the car if it wasnt for the fact that the mechanics he went too were cheats. It's ashame that all mechanics don't have the same sense of pride that we car guys have when doing work.

Well said , i love your attitude. Thats why i do 99 % percent of the work on my car. Not near as an expert as some of u , but being in skilled trades a little research and the internet go a long way. Been burned before by that phone call by the mechanic so might as well do it myself that way i can make sure i take my time and get it right. My boss told me a story last week he got the call from the dealership, truck was in for an oil change. Said the drain plug was stripped. Needed a new pan , $800 !!!! Can u believe that. Best part is there the ones that always do the oil change. Dont ask me why but he paid for it and is in with some sort of despute/ resolution process with them. We'll see how this plays out.

The guy loved the car, I could tell just by talkin to him, and I told him after I bought it that I would let him know the progress of the repairs and what I turned up, because as a matter of professional pride I felt it important that he know that these guys were screwing him. Even just some of the charges they threw at him on these receipts were outrageous, not to mention the fact that alot of these parts were original when I got the car, never replaced, and the damage that occurred from them even doing work on the car. The trans was the biggest mind **** of all, because to pay for a rebuild and then find out they just threw a torque converter in there and called it a day is mind boggling.

the ones for the water pump. I don't re use any tty bolts if I don't have too. I don't know why you didn't just pull the dip stick tube though you would've been done in no time but it's good to know you still got it. I considered that method when I did my headers. But read in the header thread to just unbolt and pull the tube and dipstick out.

yeh i just gotta get it back in and check to see if it hits anything, didnt have much trouble with the coolant pipes like some people have suggested, it made contact in one point and i just tweaked the pipe a bit and gave it over 1/2" of clearance between the crossover. Gonna swap the clamps out and fit it up again.

Good job posting that receipt. Now anyone in your area should pass the word not to use those crooked hacks for anything. I feel sorry for the owner now, but this car has the right owner now and will get the kind of attention us car guys will provide.

swapped out one of the upper clamps tonight and got the dipstick in, dipstick needed no modification for some reason. Plenty of clearance. Water pump will be in tomorrow and i will try to bear this ridiculous weather to get it on.

honestly, not really, a little push here and there but they had plenty of clearance, dont ask me why the guy on the grand prix forums had to remove his and run hoses. There is a million different ways you could bend these. If they sat too low i could have even slotted or changed the brackets and moved them up about a half inch.
