So one thing i was not planning on changing at this time was the sway bar bushings, but I took the wheel off and looked at the suspension and went...oh, great. Anyone see a problem with this?

Yes thats right, the factory rubber one is cut at the bottom, what do you think happens when pressure is put on that on a older bushing? Lol the damn sway bar was laying on the cradle. Here it is with the new stuff. The moog blues i believe are poly.

All the bushings are like that from the factory. There split at the bottom to install once the clamp goes on sway bar goes no where it doesn't push through the slit. I hope you greased the sway bar bushing prior to install

bullshit, my sway bar was laying on the frame on both sides right through the slit, i have never seen a car with a top mounted sway bar that had slits on the bottom of the seat. They are usually cut like that for bushings that bolt up to the bottom of the cradle. Moog wouldnt have redesigned it to have slits in the front if it wasnt the source of premature failure. It's an asinine design.

Another thing to think about since that's the ONLY slit on the bushing how is that you could install the bushing on the bar...

3 pics, come on man, I need to see the step by step lol. Do you think the factory sway bar brackets will work with the bigger bar and bigger bushings or do new brackets have to be purchased as well? That question is for anyone. Thanks

as far as i can tell, only the hole is bigger on the larger sway bar bushings, assuming its coming directly off another wbody, should be fine. lol I should have taken some before pics, the control arm on the passenger side actually wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, the front cab had stress cracks from age and was very soft but other then that, ball joint was still good. Drivers side on the other hand the ball joint boot was shot and the cab was starting to rip loose. Actually wrapping it up right now, can't wait to see how much tighter its gonna feel.

I realize that all the bushings have slits in them, but where the slit is positioned on the bushing is directly proportional to the style of sway bar and the way the sway bar torques on the car. Even the OEM replacement bushings have slits on the side instead of the bottom now. I'm sure when the bushing is new its damn near impossible to get it to move through that slit, but when a bushing has over 100k on it, and the rubber is as soft a pencil eraser, the weight exerted on that bar is going to push it right through that lower slit.

I agree.... I replaced mine just because i did the Problem Solver Control arms and links, but my oem ones where still pretty solid for 75k. I dont see anyway possible it could slide through that slit unless it has completely disentigrated into nothing and at that point, that stupid slit wont matter anyways.
