Default Magnaflow Exhaust

I just saw the dyno sheet on Magnaflow's website for the GXP. They claim 22 horsepower and 14 ft/lbs of torque. It should be the same for the Impala SS and MC SS as well. My question is to those who have the system. What difference did it make to your cars performance? IE seat of the pants feel,E.T.'s. 22hp and 14ft/lbs should be felt and make a difference. Let me know cause with spring on its way I want to start modding the SS. Here is the link to the dyno results page:

I have the system, SOP feels stronger passing above 55 mph, which the dyno chart supports. None of my friends have one so I've never ran another one on the highway to see if the intake and exhaust work I did on the car matters.

But, I think the MCSS is an Aero Pig above 68 mph (gas milage falls off above 70 in my car), so does 22 hp matter???

If you have the money, get it, but a couple other threads suggest changing the D/P, and putting some mufflers on the stock pipes.

Would I buy it again? Yes - I like the bigger pipes and you can tell you have a V8 in the car, unlike stock. (But then again, look at the line before this) Although I changed the tips to stock appearing.

BuffaloSS may have a sys available.

is it the aero drag increase over ~70 MPH that causes the huge drop off or is there a fueling cat-protect mode like on my '95 LT1 to avoid getting the cat-con too hot? Moving that trigger upward in the RPM cruise range on my Caprice made a big difference in higher speed fuel economy.

Interesting ... I don't have the programming to look at that. But this car needs gas milage help.

I do know my Z gets around 28 - 30 in 6th gear, which isn't apples to apples comparo.

Back in those original threads about the MF system, their dyno shows only a 10hp gain...not 22...on the Imp and i cannot imagine they did anything differently to the GPGXP to miraculously find another 12hp. I call BS on that.

SOYP dyno says it's worth it...esp at high rpms. Sound makes it all that much more enjoyable. I'm still waiting for her to break in completely.

Anyway, i DO have a MF system for sale...it's on eBay right now in fact...ends Sunday night. I can't post links to eBay but if you search for 2006 Impala you'll find it. I've also got the second set of tips they sent me listed on ebay as well.

Before you call BS on the 22 hp claim go on the magnaflow website and check it out for yourself. I even provided the link. How does it compare to a LS1 Z28? Thats the sound I want for my Impala SS.

I'm not saying you're bulls**tting, but the system is no different than the Impala and they posted a dyno showing only 9hp...back when they were promoting the first LS4 exhaust system.

Gotta love dem Pontica's, though!

SO, basically, they're saying that by adding a second tip to each side, they found a magical 13hp?

Someone messed up there. I don't even think environmental factors could possibly affect the run THAT much.

If you're talking Magnaflows on a F-Body -vs- W-Body, I would say not even close ...

http://ls1sounds.com/magnaflow.htm

Listen to the 5th one down. I had a friend drive my MCSS past me, could hardly hear it.

My Z doesn't have a resonator or a 2" down-pipe off a V-6 either. It has 2 high flow cats going into a 3" Y-pipe.

Listen to it below ...

I thought you got only 10 hp from dual tips. To get 15 you need the 5" fattie tip with the LED's (I think the decal adds another 5 hp)

Yeah ... have to agree, unless the 2007 system has been up-graded somewhere. But I thought cat-backs are normally good for 10 hp. 22 is pushing it.

I thought that 22 ponies was a bit high myself. Maybe a complete exhaust from the manifolds back would net 22 hp, but not just cat back. Then again both of the above dyno's came from Magnaflow.

complete BS.
you can run 3 inch straight pipe and not gain 22 hp.

sorry, who ever believes that is a tool.
