Default Trailblazer SS faster than us?

I saw one on the street just now at a stop light, he was a few cars ahead of me, and launched hard. I wasn't going to try and race him, but I tried catching him anyway. That didn't work out so well, I let out at about 80 and didn't gain any ground on him. What do these trucks usually run in the 1/4 stock? On average, are they usually faster than us? ( dig or roll)

I have one a 07 AWD TBss and its not as fast as my stock camaro SS. I did use my dashhawk to check my aprox. 1/4 time on the TBSS and it was 14.02 with a 2.2 60' which is very typical. I have seen posts with 2wd hittin 13.8 stock.

Yeah I wouldn't expect it to keep up with a stock LS1 Camaro, but 14.0 isnt bad at all, considering my Impala ran 14.3 stock. I'm surprised you didn't get better than a 2.2 60ft, maybe they don't launch as hard as I think they do with the stock converter.

yea stock convertor stallls to about 2100 and the TCM has alot of protection built into it to keep the trans from exploding. The new tune and intake should make a big diff

I wanted a TBSS. However I wanted AWD with leather and the sunroof and whatnot which quickly made it more than I really wanted to spend haha. About 8 grand more than my Imp SS.

I looked at them too. Really wanted one, but the gas mileage is what killed it for me. I drive too much to pay for all that gas. My impala is bad enough, but at least if I take it easy on the gas pedel, it takes it easy on my wallet. Maybe in two years after the impala is paid off I'll get one, and keep the impala for my dd and have the trailblazer for the track.

$5000 rebate for the TBSS minus gms price ended up being $27,xxx (no leather, has sun and sound package). When I bought the Impala I think there was a $1000 rebate minus gms and that was also $27,xxx. There have been better deals on Impalas since I bought mine, but it was the first one at the dealership and had to make my mind up before everybody at the dealership started beating the hell out of it. Bought with 20 miles on it, and I put ten of them on.
The Impala was a very nice car, but child seats didn't fit well in the back and It couldn't tow my boat, and I think the Trailblazer is a little quicker. It's a more practical vehicle for me in every sense except for the gas mileage, 14 mpg vs 17 mpg.

I also wanted a TBSS but only if it was a SS3, wouldn't spend that much without having all the goodies, it was approx 8K more than the Impala with worse gas mileage, a old S10 style dash and about the same interior room (except the truck/storage of course)! Nice truck, but I have a feeling something new/improved is in the horizon soon, from GM for the Trailblazer!

I think the Trailblazers respond better to tuning than the Impalas. I raced a guy with my Impala who had stock TBSS and I had a bad launch, he left me pretty hard. Howver I was easily able to run him down and pass him by the 1/4 mile. Stock he ran a 14.2. I told him to take it to Vector and he did and had it tuned. We raced again and I had a great launch this time, he only pulled me by about a car (vs about 3-4 on the first race) so I thought I had him. However I could not catch up, he won by about a car, car and a half. We even roll raced from about 30 and I could not pull on him, that was enough for me. I had a vector tune, hsrk, catless down pipe, shift kit, k&n intake and even no spare tire at the time. I now have an awd Trailblazer SS with a vector tune.

Do you have times/numbers for your TBSS?

Not yet, Norwalk is having a private day on October 15, I'll know then. I also know my old, old car, a 94 Caprice with an lightly modded lt1 runs a best of 14.15. From a roll the Impala could pull on him ok,(sold it to a freind). I raced him with my tuned TBSS and could pull past him pretty good, definately more so than my Impala, to his suprise. He has driven a stock Trailblazer SS and thought there was no way one could beat him, esp from a roll.
