Default I just wanted you to know...

I want ya'll to know I am about to launch a Negative Ad Campaign against GM. I love the monte carlo so it has nothing to do with that... It has to do with the fact that my car was in an accident somewhere between the factory and the dealership -- because someone has replaced the passenger side front fender, the windshield has been replaced with a aftermarket windshield and the roof has been spotted.

My wife was the first to notice the color difference (you can only really see it in direct sunlight or intense light). Then I took a real close look and you can see the lack of orange peel in that fender, then I popped the hood and you can see tape lines. Now I started really looking and the windshield is not original factory glass, its aftermarket and then I get on a step ladder and from overhead you can see a spot line. OK.. Fender, Windshield, Roof Spotted -- This car was hit HARD!

OK... I checked the dealership's records for ROs, there are none! OK.. so I called GM and they say the have no record of an accident. OK... THEN WHO AND THE F#@& REPLACED THE FENDER AND GLASS!!! The car had only 64 miles on it when I bought it. So is there Frame Damage, and is there anything else I need to be concern with?

So I took off the letters that say Monte Carlo and put them back on the car as "Lemon Car". I am going to take pictures of the color differences, lack of orange peel, the tape lines, the aftermarket glass codes, the spotting on the roof. Then I am going to create a video "GM SELLS WRECKED CARS & FAIL TO DISCLOSE!!!" I plan to put the pictures and video on TMZ, YouTube, PhotoBucket, and everywhere else I can, and then I am going to write a letter to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MNBC, New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, LA Times, etc.

Anyways... I want you guys to know I'm not putting down the car, It just WRONG that GM or it Transport company can damage a vehicle without disclosing it! A dealership would lose its license and the Attorney General would Fry a dealership for doing something like that!

Oh... I work for the dealership so... if GM will screw with me, they will screw over anybody!!!

It is very common for repairs to be made on cars damaged in transit from the factory and never disclosed. I wish you good luck with your windmill tilting, but you won't get anywhere.

GM didn't do it and probably had no knowledge of it. When it left the factory it was fine or it would not have been sent out.

It probably happened during transport, in which case they are repaired at the dealership. Sometimes it happens and as long as cars are repaired, they can still sell it as a new car. It may have also happened after delivery to the dealership, perhaps during a test drive... which means your beef is with the guy you bought it from, not GM.

This is a perfect case of "buyer beware". I always inspect every inch of a new car for this very reason.

New or used I go over every car I buy with a fine tooth comb. Every panel, side to side front to back, top to bottom.

You got screwed and that REALLY sucks. But I'm afraid all you can do is chalk it up to experience and not let it happen again.

If your campaign makes you feel better then by all means.

Good Luck. How's the GM dealership you work for and bought the car from going to like one of it's(and GM indirect) employees bashing GM?

Clever use of the Monte carlo to spell out lemon Car though.

There are no ROs at the dealership (I am the F&I Manager) for any carrier damage, so it definitely happened and was repaired prior to arrival at the dealership. As far as I am concern, GM is responsible for the vehicle until it gets to the dealership. Once delivered, the dealership is responsible. Yes, a vehicle can be damaged, repaired, and sold as new with "Disclosure." Actually, it can be sold without disclosure if the repair is less than 5% of the cost of the vehicle. I promise you, replacing the fender, windshield, and spotting the roof cost more than $1,600. By law, it was to be disclosed! Failure to disclose opens them up for a lawsuit, and criminal action. I am not asking for the world, or even a new car. I want the car inspected and a gaurantee that there is no frame damage and the integrity of the vehicle is as new. Then I want the car to be completely repainted at the factory for the factory clearcoat or $2,400 so I can have it repainted and clear coated properly. To me... I am being quite reasonable. GM wants to play, I will play, and I am quite good at drawing National Attention to issues, for I have done it successfully for organizations and special causes for years. It opens the whole can of worms about car companies doing this for years with no recourse. They have... because nobody has been willing to, or knew how to promote the issue to a National and International level. Well... I do...

Dang ... I give up - I still can't find that (must work too many hours) - where is it?

I had a GMC Safari that had the windshield replaced from what I could see. The tell tale sign was the urethane all over the headliner and visors. Same thing, no damage here boss.

My first brand new vehicle was back in 1998. I bought a new dodge ram pickup. I didn't realize it until I washed for the first time a few days later that the door had been painted. Turns out it was damaged in transport. Alot of these transport truck drivers have a couple quicky hack bodyguys to turn to in events like these. They paint 'em up fast and put 'em back on the truck. They can get away with it because nobody tracks the vehicle once it's on the truck. I'm a sales rep for a chev-buick-cad dealership. If a cetrain car is on order, I can track what's going on. The scheduled date that the car will be built, the day it's assigned a VIN, and the day that it is shipped. From there, I have no idea what's happening until the car arrives on the lot. Sometimes it's a few days, sometimes it's a couple weeks. The problem with GM is the lack of accountability with the transporters.
The dealer should have noticed the damage when it was checked in the the dealership. Then they could have fixed it properly, or refused the vehicle.

Ahh... The truth is coming out! The Carrier Company is now admitting fault... Now... the compensation! I want my car to be totally repainted at the factory or anywhere where they can duplicate the hard clearcoat. I guess there is a company in the Detroit area that does this at a cost of $4,500 -- OUCH! I thought it would only be like $2,400. Neighter here or there... The law states they must bring it back to a Non-depreciated state or like new. The negotiations begin today!

i used to do a bunch of auction work. as in checking for frame damage, previous body work and various other things. so it is pretty easy for me to tell sometimes. other times it's not.

is there a vin tag on the fender, and door? also check the bolts to see if there has been a socket. or the corners "torn off" ie paint missing. this is the easiest way to tell

Well... it has been a crazy day! Dealership has been busier today then anytime in 3-months. I did talk with the carrier rep, our service manager, and Chevrolet Dealership Operations Manager (District Manager). District Manager tried to say, I was out of luck until I said,

"Would you like to repeat that to my lawyer, he would be very interested in your opinion."

DM, "Well... what do you want?"

"I want the car to be totally repainted at the factory."

DM, "We cannot do that, but we might be able to have the car totally repainted here."

"I don't think so... the clear coat wouldn't be anywhere near a factory job."

DM, "Well think about and let me know."

"Ok, I want to confer with my attorney anyways, I think this falls under Michigan Lemon Law."

DM, "Well it might, but do you want to persue the Lemon Law?"

"I'll let you know..."

end of conversation, cause I walked out p i s s e d!

Our collison shop has a great painter, but it was he, that told me, he could not duplicate the factory clear coat.

Here is what happened. On January 6, 2006, at 9:45 a.m., one of the ramp plates fell off the top of the truck, and it hit my roof, flipped over sliding across the hood and passenger front fender before exited the truck. I recieved oringinal report and all the repair orders that show everything I spotted. Except, the repair order shows the passenger headlight assembly was also replaced.

Is the negative ad campaign cancelled? No... It on hold waiting out come!

Who did the repairs? Your dealership? That would be shitty, since in one of your first posts you stated that your manager basically forced the car on you( I know, I know, you fell in love with it). I'm just saying it would suck to find out your employer missled you that badly just to get rid of a car, then give you **** when you want it made right. It's giving me an ulcer just thinking about it.
