Default put me back into a good frame of mind please...

Im new here!!!

Bought an 06 silver monte carlo SS a week ago today. So far the passenger side heated seat doesnt work. A/C doesnt work. I push it and the light just blinks 4 times and then stays off. Passenger side heated seat goes on and about 30 seconds later it turns off. Driver side did the same thing the other day BUT works now. Also not sure if this is normal but the driver side window sounds loud when rolling up. Im sure its just because its a big window but just feeling you guys out. it is GM Certified and only has 8000 miles on it. Goes in monday for the warranty work but i hope this wont be an on going thing with stuff breaking.

Anyway, I had issues with my seat heaters, too. Are you trying it when no one is in there?...b/c it won't/shouldn't work that way. Mine used to operate with no one sitting down...b/c I liked to "preheat" the seat for my wife when I got her from work...but then it just quit operating at all. They'll reprogram the module and you'll be good to go. It's sensing an overheat condition and turning off...no biggie. Mine hasn't acted up since (knock on wood).

Re: the A/C turning not functioning...it will only work when the dash and/or floor vents are selected. If you're trying it at any other position, you'll get the flashing light. Just like "circulate" will only work when directed to the dash vents and one other setting, iirc. Make sure this is/isn't the case with you.

Aside from that, Silver IS a great color, so feel good about that, at least! (which is what Monte was trying to tell you up there).

Well, since I just ran it out of warranty two days ago, I'm almost afraid to say this:

No issues yet, other than one recall for a power steering bushing (and the $5,000 or so that someone else's insurance paid for when an idiot ran a red light and removed the front 6-8 inches from the vehicle last July.)

Don't quite know how it happened, but the front tires only lasted 40K km , rear tires still have half the original tread left at 60K km.

just went out to test the a/c and no matter what setting its on it will just flash at me. It goes in monday so we will see what they say. It does the exact same thing the circulation button does when its not on the right setting. I hope it nothing major like the wiring harness is goofed up or something.

You guys want me to type out my list?

Rear clunking noise
ISS
Steering column
Bad fuel pump
EQ functions on the HU dont change
Hi-band hissing coming from the HU
Remote Start (At least 3 visits to get this resolved)
Alignment issues (low speed shudders)
Wheel bearings
Front Defroster took a dump
2-3 Intermediate band in the tranny went
Dead batteries (I was on the 2nd stocker, said f it and got an optima)
Sloooow windows rolling up and down
Sunroof doesn't open past half way

Loss of all interior lighting randomly over 50 mph (the first time was a shocker)
Tire Pressure Monitor System
Burnt out foglights
Dead driver's power seat
Leaking coolant
Leaking P/S fluid
SES codes for the stupid gas cap

and my personal favorite....my OEM throttle body was only operating at 61% open.....that will kill your performance. Surely there's ones I'm forgetting....

What he said!I thought my A/C was broken also,Checked owners manual and if the outside temp reads below 40 degrees you will get the blinking because it will not come on.Seat heaters were a common issue with mine as well,Drivers side element melted they said and the passenger side had a pinched wire some where,They said.Hope you enjoy your car!Try to find a GOOD dealership service department and you should be alright.Yours ought to be covered under the factory warranty with only 8K mile and being an 06,Don't know if the GM certified warranty has a deductible or not.

Small world, I am from Decatur! You will enjoy the car immensely, I sure love mine. Monte Carlo lovers had to wait almost 20 years for the return of a V8, but it was well worth the wait IMO. I don't find much time to post much on this board - but Welcome!

Default Issues...

Hey man, don't fret. Last night while driving in the snow, my service light came on for my abs and stabilitrak. Neither one was working. I shut the car down, and everything is cool. Service run next week. Enjoy the car and UPGRADE!!!

i figured the a/c was something like that. It does the same thing that the circulation button does if its not on the dash/floor vents.

I love my carto no extent. I will say though i would sure like to know who was driving the car in tests to find out it got 18 mpg in the city.
