This thread brought this thought up. I do not know the answer nor could I find any good information on this subject.

What are the difference between the LS4 TB and the other LSx TB's in use?

I believe it's the bolt pattern. Someone said ours (or the others) only use 3 bolts instead of 4...so an adapter plate must be fabricated. Also, the "fly by wire" vs. throttle cable is an issue...and no one has figured how to (or spent the time to) get a cable to work with ours. Not sure how compatible another fly-by-wire system would be with our setup.

A while ago, there was some discussion about getting a different intake plenum to mount up for us. Like someone said in the other thread, when you look into our plenum, the inlet is a "D" shape instead of an "O" shape...with the "oil somethingorother" cutting off the airflow ...can't remember what was doing it.

With the older LS1 intakes, the EGR tube came thru the top of the manifold and hung down into the opening restricting airflow. Might be something similar to that.

I have no idea still. I don't have one of these cars and I'm in Iraq so I can't go and look at one. But it sounds like they are different enough that you can't substitute a different TB for it.

Yeah, I think it's pretty much not gonna happen, or else it would have by now. Just like with the headers and anything else, the demand has to be there.

We have a 4-bolt, 76mm throttle body, bolt spacing is not the same as the 90mm LS2 tb.

For those who are interested, here's the LS4 tb flange (and a good view of the restrictions):

The LS6 tb flange:

And the LS4 tb mounted to a LS6 intake using a home-made adapter:

Aren't our TB's the same as the trailblazer/colorados? (the 2.8/3.5/4.2 engine family)

If so, maybe try and find ppl who are porting those?

Yeah, I really only need to spend another weekend on it and it'll be ready for install.

I've just been distracted for the last couple of months working on the Fiero. It's amazing how much more adventurous you can be in modifying a car that cost less than a set of wheels and tires for the GXP.
