Default Is this exspensive?

i just got a price from Hogans for 1250.00 for a down pipe, 3" back to the y, split into 2.5, back to magnaflow mufflers. does that seem exspensive?

Too me it does - you can get a M/F exhaust for around $600 last I checked, down pipe is $300.

thats what i thought... maybe i should do the dp myself.but i think it 3" outlet so im screwed. isnt stock gxp exhaust 2.5 then drops too 2"?

Any custom exhaust shop can make you a res. Delete pipe in 3", just take them your old one in for comparison of lenght and flange style and have them make one in 3" stainless.

Expensive, just have a local shop do most of the work for you. It's just some welding and your car is never going to notice the difference between 'local aluminum pipe' and 'named branded, shipped across the country aluminum pipe'.

Haven't had stock since I got the car, I thought the DP / cat reduces to 2.5". LS series engines should have 3" primary pipe, IIRC.

I'm planning a 3" DP w/ 3" cat, connecting to a 3" pipe if I do more exhaust work. For me it's just hard to find the time.

im planning on 3" all the way back also. i will go to a local shop here and see what they will charge.

Buy the materials you need yourself, don't pay the materials markup from the shop. Just go to some muffler shop and pay labor.

how about this... i am confusing myself more and more. i can get this for 650.00. do you think it will make that much of a performance difference 2.5 versus 3" and skipping the Hogans downpipe all together?

the magnaflow just is 2.5 at the dp flange. meant for stock dp. i dont know how much a benefit going 3 all the way to the Y would be. some probably. the cost is because mangaflow has the program for the system already so they can pop em out cheaper than a custom place.

i went with a custom exhaust and it made a big difference! just ordered 1 high flow cat and 1 race muffler from dynomax with 3" in/out. then got 3" pipe all the way through.
it was about 300 for cat and muffler and 220 for pipe and labor. so roughly 520 all together.

Wayyyyy too much. Hogan does quality work but keep it under $600.

Very expensive! I paid 650 for my mandrel bent 3" into dual 2.5" exhaust with mufflers. I ordered my 3" down pipe and 3" outlet from Hogan and had it welded to the stock cat for 75. I think I paid 150 for the pieces. 900 all together.
You can use the Pace setter exhaust kit from Monza for the older GP's. Its a direct fit. The W body store has it on sale for 400.00. The kit uses 3" into dual 2.5" with high flow mufflers and nice 3.5" tips. Get the Hogan 3" down pipe with a high flow 3" cat that has a 3" outlet and you should be good to go. You can have Curtis weld on a 3" collector to the cat outlet and then just cut the pace setter inlet to the length thats needed. Install the another 3" Collector to the Pace setter inlet and be done! Easy as pie!

A 3'' exhaust system will have 0 hp gains over the 2.5'' because where the DP connects to the exhaust manifold is only 2 3/8 thus is less than 2.5'' wich Imo will hurt back pressure/performance...........again its a 3'' flange connector w/2 3/8 flow................one can remove the rear manifold and dremel it out to 3'' without getting into the bolt pattern and result to real hp gains.

Supporting mods and/or tune ring a bell to you?

Anytime you can increase the volume of air entering/exiting the engine, there is a greater opportunity to make more HP. The modern gasoline engine is a glorified air pump.

317.00 for the downpipe and 500.00 for 3" pipe back to the y and 2.5" to magnaflows from a local muffler shop here. so 850.00 when all is said and done. i sure hope the mags are quieter than the flow 44's!

Thats still super expensive. $500 for 3" pipe to the y? Thats like 40-50 inches total....thats crazy. $10 per inch?

My 3" exhaust made a world of difference. I did lose a Little low end but it sure makes up for it in the mid to high end. There is still a lot of power down low. I just have to give it more gas.
