Disable Stabilitrak and TCS in GXP
This may be common knowledge to a lot of you out there but I happened upon this by accident. I found that simply pressing the TCS button in our cars disables the Traction Control System, as it should.
However when the system was on and I pressed AND HELD the TCS button down, I received 2 prompts on the HUD / Computer Screen. First one says "Stability Control Off", and the car chimes, immediately following that prompt the car shows the regular "Traction Control Off" message. I haven't had a chance to drive the car without traffic so I am not sure what the difference in handling / braking is. Has anyone else messed with this?

Yep...hold it down for 7 seconds to disable both =D Works well in winter, I hate trying to go around a corner in the snow with TC off and then the damn Stabilitrack kicks in.

OKAY, I had some fun on my lunch today. I found with both the stabilitrak and TCS disable the car definitely accelerates in turns a lot better. For instance, I made a left at an intersection from a red light stop. Typically, even with the TCS off, the throttle would cut back so that the tires wouldn't spin in a turn. With both disabled, the GXP powered through the turn a lot more to my liking, albeit, spinning the whole way....

I haven't done any aggressive braking or steering with it off yet, but I found the car powers through turns like it should with it disabled. I live in El Paso and it is really hard to find a street with even light traffic. This weekend, I may drive out of town a bit just to throw the car around.

I was wondering the same thing!! Because I could have sworn even with my TC off, if I take off(under hard acceleration) at a sharp turn, my crusader would still shut down on power for a split second or so and come back in for!

Thats torque management, not traction control or stabilitrack.

you don't want to be accelerating hard/spinning your tires while your wheel is turned sharply... you'll rip through your axles in no time...

Not true all you will do is destroy the limitedslip clutchs in the differential. When that happends all you have is the old single tire fire, peg leg burnout, one wheel squeal! Your axles, half-shafts will be fine.
