New in Box LS1 Power Steering Pump
I bought this pump two weeks ago but found out I didn't need it, instead I needed a rack and pinion. This is a remanufactured unit from AC Delco (Im not 100% sure its AC Delco but it is remanufactured) I bought it for $190. I also have a used resevior you can have for free. Looking for $160 plus shipping. Let me know!!!

If you have a ton of whine from the engine its most likely your pump. When driving around, such as when you let the engine rev out slowely accelerating and there is a whine its your pump. I had a friend with a loud pump and he replaced it which got rid of the whine. Try starting the car and popping the hood, put your ear right by the pump, you should be able to pin point if its the pump. With this cars its very likely that your pump will start to whine after time.

my rack was bad because the gear where the steering shaft goes into the rack was worn out. Because of the worn out gear the front tires wondered back and forth creating a wiggle in the steering wheel. The steering also felt spongy and none responsive. A bad pump will whine due to age and over heating. The pumps are known to over heat thats why in 2000 and up f-bodies GM installed a cooler yet still they are known to fail. If you say that your steering works when its cold but not when its hot sounds like your pump is bad. The pump is affected by fluid temps. Look at it this way the rack is what gives you steering imput and pump soley makes it easier to turn the wheels.
