Date good vs out of date?
I am not familiar with these terms could yah fill me in. I am looking for seat belts for my ls1 rx7. Untill I get the cage I'll just be using the lap belt and then once I get the cage I'll need the shoulder straps. Can this system be used with just the lap belt?

If you just want the personal safety the belts are in NEW condition. The NHRA rules only allow belts to be good for so long. So even though my belts have been used 10 times at the track because the one set is 4 years old the are "expired" it's a total scam! And Simpson will 're-certify" them but damn near costs what a new set does!
So on the street you'll be fine and happy, at the track if the Tech guy checks the dates then you can have issues with expired belts.
I would only use the system with at least 4 pts connected, I guess you could use just the lap for now it would work. I just don't know how safe you would be with out a shoulder strap? I ran many time with out the crotch strap.

Yeah, I actually was not allowed to tech for 10's one night cuz the tech was being a hard *** about it. It's total BS, they should be able to inspect them see they are like new and let you roll!
Funny thing is the would check my belts, helmet etc. but never, not even once did any tech ever check my N20 system with the bottle in the tire well. That always floored me, as for a long time I did not have the proper blow down tube. And for the DS loop they just asked, do you have one? Never looked! Same with the scatter shield which I never did have.

I agree, its a total scam! Then you call Simpson to get your belts re-certified and they say "oh we'll sell you new ones at a discounted price" which is not much of break let me tell you!
