Sorry your stock LT1 SS does not have as much power as any non SS LS1.
Your SS has a higher ADVERTISED hp than the base ls1 cars. The ls1 and the LT1 in the F bodies were under rated so they did not step on big brothers toes (vette), but the ls1 was underr rated a little more and will put out more RWHP the the higher advertised SS or WS6 LT1.

Not to say your not right as many ls1s make more power but that is not the case everytime at least not at the drag strip et and MPH. I have gone 13.32 @103 in my lt1 with a cat back and DRs PHB and LCAs I have seen plenty including my own LS1 not come close with the same mods.
YES I HAVE OWNED BOTH AND SO FAR MY 96 WS6 LT1 FORMULA M6 IS THE FASTEST WITH THE MODS IT HAS!!!!!

98 vette.. 293rwhp..
98 base model ta.. 298rwhp...

tested same day back to back.. both had 4k miles on them....

an lt1 will NOT dyno that much

Whatever you say go to the track and see what happens. Dynos are for bench/internet racers. I have raced 2 LS1 with the same mods. I have an MPH & ETed them both with the same mods and not to mention my own LS1. It just not ALWAYS the case.

i have went to the track and i have seen what happens..

lt1s stock for stock are not as fast.. and mod for mod are not as fast.... its a fact, not an opinion


of course though driver error and so on plays a part

Of coarse a you dont race on a dyno, but it will prove the true HP of the cars eliminating factors that skew your argument.

Tke any stock ls1 and any stock lt1 (both with the same trans and in perfect running condition), the ls1 is going to make more power.

As for your track experience, Driver and weight make a hell of a difference.

Just because you perform better at the track, does not mean you have more power. You are using what you have more efficiently.

I have seen some pretty poor running ls1s myself. Back in 98 or 99, I had a cam and bolt on fox coupe that had a little weigh reduction. On street tires it was probably a mid 13 car at 103-1049I can only guess, I never ran it at the track). On the street, I waxed an auto ls1 Z28 and his buddies auto ls1 formula. The next night, I ran a friends bolt on auto 93Z. I barely beat him through the marked off quarter, and he freight trained by me as we stayed in it. Some lt1s are freaks. I may have one myself, I'll find out when I take it to the track

look, i didn't post initially to get into a fight. you guys in your ls1's always **** on the lt1's. i was just posting that there are plenty of fast lt1's that can keep up with ls1's. but you guys get so offended when someone even hints at the fact that your ls1's aren't the fastest cars in the world. if you want to keep going back and forth, fine, but that was not my intention.

An ls1 will always make more power stock vs stock! The lt1 will always make better low end torque stock vs stock. At the track both are fair matched, on the street the ls1 will pull up top all day. Thats fact!

Think the fastest was 13.5-6 w/ a prepped track...GMHTP supposedly ran there formula to that.

Read my post again! It says LS1s are NOT ALWAYS FASTER! It doesnt say all LS1s are slower. Oh Ive beat 2 at the track and 3 on the street. Also got my *** handed to me at the track by some. So just like I said they are not ALWAYS faster.

lol, who is you guys? I don't have an ls1, it's an lt1.
I just know the facts and am stating them.

You Guys should give some LT1s credit! Not every LS1 runs 12.s stock, alot run in the low 14.s with your average driver and trap 99-100 stock. I did a thread on this and out of 20+ people that replied 99% ran mid 13s and higher stock. Lots still in the 13s with bolt ons. Then the mods here at LS1tech deleted it. Every time I go to the track there are plenty of LSXs to watch run. Some are stupid fast and others are avg some are turds.

FAIL... gm underrated the fbody ls1s.. 1998 base model T/A dynoed 298 rwhp, that makes hp at the flywheel a lot higher than 310.... so take your 310 crack rwhp(overrated) and we will take our true 345 crank hp (true rating)

no one as any reason to be offended by your ignorant statements... and no we dont always **** on the lt1s.. lt1s had their time to shine, then the ls1s did.. and they still are.. there is a reason ls1s are talked about more than lt1s, regardless of model.. its cause they are faster.

I def agree 85% of LS1s stock to stock with an LT1 will win. But that leaves 15% of Lt1s to win too.

i understand that... some ls1s run 15s... altitude, car condition, driver have a lot to do with it.. although that is most definitely not the usual.. just like the usual isnt for an average lt1 to run mid to high 13s..

we agree, and somewhat disagree! haha

+1 that is true every guy i know with a fast car always says there car is faster than it is untill they show up at the track then the excuses began, so i dont believe **** unless i see it at the proving grounds i have heard dyno numbers and track numbers on here that i have just laughed out loud.
