gm847??
Where can I purchase the gm847 cam? Also will this cam work on a stock lt1? I was planning on staggering the rockers with 1.6 and 1.5 new push rods and springs. Will I be alright?????

thanks man... Yea I talked to a guy who buids them all the time just now and he said that it would be fine with stock heads but the more upgrades the better. I am going to use 1.6 and 1.5 rockers he said that makes the cam act bigger than what it is.....

If you had used the search, you would have found a lot more info. Your car is going to need better heads to go with that cam to not act like ****. Why would you put 1.6 with cam, when the heads will already be choking the motor? I say wait or go with cc306, or even better would be custom.

Ok buddy have fun with the wrong selection of parts. I was trying to be helpful but your too much of a tool to be aware of that, or just wanna be told the cam will work great.

I've shown proof of stock bottom end stock heads 847 car running 11s with minimal other mods multiple times. I have as of yet to have someone show a single bit of proof on what you say and I've asked A LOT.

I dont have a dyno graph and hard info to display on a chart for you sorry. If you have been successful that is great, I have not heard much about anybody running 11's with cam only 847. Are you like a special case?

You CAN run the GM847 on stock heads, but you just will not be maximizing the full potential of the cam and it will be much harder to tune. Here is a link to a flow chart with several LT1 head configuations on it. http://www.malcams.com/legacy/misc/headflow.htm
You will not need to stagger the rockers, but you can if you want to. The 847 is a high lift cam (1.5 rocker .539/.558 and 1.6 rocker .575/.595). I would run the 26918's (beehives) from comp.
This cam will work in your car, but I'll be honest, with the tuning aspect, you will make just as much if not more power with the CC306 cam. Its your car, do what you wish, but that is actually what I am considering for mine with ported heads. You just might find your car to be really stumbly, even with a spot on tune, till you get up in the power band.

please dont PM me and tell me not to be a jerk. I "hit the reply" button to help you out and you can read all the info you want NOW instead of waiting for replys.
But go ahead and buy this cam....... along with the electric turbo to help it out and the whistleing muffler tip. TONS of HP there. Your car should really fly!

re
1badboo you can do what you want, but these guys are trying to help you get your car running better. If you put in a 847/306 type cam, ported heads will only help you get your car running better, at the very least when you do the swap pull the heads and gasket match the intake and exhaust ports and the intake manifold. Good luck

thanks everybody for the info. I'm not upset at all. I asked for info and got it. It just seems that everybody has different info. I was just going to start with the cam and go from there. I understand that it will not run to full potential with this cam without head port etc. I just wanted to no if it would be drivabal for now with the 847. Maybe I will look at some other cams....
Thanks again
