400-600 Shot I'm looking to buy a new nitrous kit... I'm going to do direct port this time. NX makes a kit for up to 250 and one up to 600. Price difference is only a couple hundred bucks. I want to put a much bigger shot on the new motor. (400...) I know I should go all forged. (thinking an eagle kit, or scat parts) But what pistons would hold a shot that big and still be able run for extended periods of time. ie, drive it to the track, and work... Any one running a shot that big on an lt1?
For stock internaled lt1 sprayin a 300 shot you better hope you make it down the track that one time just for a nice time slip cause your not makin it down the track again or driving home haha. Most people say 150 is the highest you wanna go with all the safety stuff. Maybe once you get ALL forged internals you could start to think about more, but if you like your motor please dont put a 300 shot on it stock haha.
put a 300 on it stock and see the outcome lol! jk if i was gonna spray 400-600! i would go to a good machine shop and tell them look i need to put together a motor thats bullet proof and will hold a 600 shot. or do alot of research and piece a rotating assembly together.

yea 400 is a huge shot, and for a shot that big i'd think the motor would have to be a pretty dedicated track car [obviously im not an expert]. but yesterday there was a thread on having a cam that was made for nitrous, so im assuming with a shot that large you would def have to have a nitrous cam, which in turn would probably make the car a complete dog for a DD since the cam would have to be set up for that huge shot and thats just the 400, i cant even begin to imagine one single 600 shot, that better be progressively controlled or in two stages like 2 300's. otherwise i dont even see a 600 shot as practical, i mean what do top fuel guys that are nitrous spray? im sure its some where around those numbers and those are dedicated track cars.

yea i cant imagine a 400 shot let alone 600 ill be sprayin 200 and feel that will be a big kick in the *** but i would talk to nitrous outlet about a direct port kit as well as a dedicated fuel system and all the correct controllers for something that huge. o and you better put up videos after this lol

You are going to lift the heads before you mess up anything in the bottom end (Assuming everything is right)
On my 418 anything over about ~300hp of nitrous will probably lift the heads (12mm studs still, on 5.3 casting heads)
No offence, but i really dont think you have any idea what you are getting into. A nitrous setup that could effectivitly (and safely) spray that much would cost a LOT. You are better off to just do a turbo setup if this is a street car.

My dad was spraying a 2 stage 400 shot on his LT1 383. He hit is with a 200 shot out of the hole and progressively brought in the rest on the way down the 1/4. The block was o-ringed, splayed caps, callies dragon slayer forged crank, eagle h-beams, AFR heads, and JE pistons. Not sure what the compression was. He was pulling alot of timing I know that. Never got a track time on 400. It went 10.30's at 134 on the 200.

That size shot can be done on the LT1...you might be surprised what some people are running. 
As stated before it would be best to talk to your engine builder and go over your plans for the car. If you are building it yourself call the piston manufacturers your self and they can help you.
I have a set of custom Ross pistons in mine. They were spec'ed for "at least" 300. My short block was built by a highly reputable local builder so I don't have details on the pistons.
When you get ready for the kit give me a shout...we have many options for you that will support your needs.

how much does a set up lik these run on the lt1 intake? im interested plan on sprayin 200 next year but always want more and will want a DP sometime.
From the sounds of his original post it seemed like he thought he could spray a 400-600 shot on his stock shortblock, thats what i was insinuating there was no way in hell that will happen lol. With the motor built correctly then yes you can spray that much. Thats what i was gettin at with my first post...

Didn't we just tell another person yesterday that a 200 shot would be pushing it on a stock shortblock? This guy was talking about going with a eagle rotating assembly, I think I had seen bad things about Eagle's cranks on here?
