i am half way done swapping valve springs, alot easier with the intake off i might add, but still a pain in the a$$. i just had to vent. i spent over 2 hours picking away at one side of the engine. will have to kill the pass. side tomorrow. then distributor goes back in with a new gear on it, which is why it came off in the first place
g'night and hny to all.

I changed all 16 in about 3 hours or so. The back are a PITA. Cylinder 7 and 8 were the worst. Cowl got in the way. I used the cheap O'Reilly brand valve spring compressor too. Had to use gloves because I was getting blisters on the first few. Got it down pretty damn quick when I did it a second time for a friend.

we did 5-6 set's of LTx springs last year Bought a tool that makes it easier but still not as easy as a LSx No need for air or any of that crap being in the way
I tell you what just send the car down here with a few cases of beer next time and I will take care of it for you

Does anyone have the part # for the crane tool, seems like it works well.
I'm amazed how you can get away with changing springs on these LT1s without air or rope, are the valves that close to the pistons @ TDC on these engines?
