Default Lunati Cam Install few other bolt ons...PICS

Just a few pictures of what I ahev been doing for the past few days, should have it buttoned up by next weekend, I still have a few questions about priming the oil pump, what direction do you spin the pump, clockwise or counterclockwise and how long does it take or is it even possible to get oil all the way up to the rockers with a cordless drill???

You spin it clockwise. It will take about 3-4 minutes before the guage will even move one bit. The drll you use will only be spinning the pump at about 25-30rpm, so don't worry if the guage doesn't move for a little while. Once the guage does move, it will go up fast. Just prime it for a minute or so after the guage starts to move. You will not be able to get oil to the rockers with the priming of the pump. You need the cam to push the lifters around. The pushrods get their oil from the lifter body itself which in turn gets it's oil from the bore around the lifter body. Just put a dab of oil onto the rocker tips upon assembly.

thanks I douched everything I could get my hands on with assembly lube when I was putting it together...lifters(after soaking them in oil), pushrod tips, rocker tips, valve tips, rocker fulcrums, rocker studs, obviously the new cam, I just don't want to damage anything on start up!

Oh yeah and what gauge are you taking about? If you are talking about the one on the dash that one is out of the question but I am assuming that you can remove the oil pressure sending unit and install a guage right there??? Any comments/suggestion does it need to be liquid filled???

Anyone have any guesstimates as to what this thing is going to put down when it is finished with parts in sig, I was hoping for 390 to 400...is that achievable with these parts?

Yes you can simply put a manual guage in there at the back of the block where the stock sending unit was.

I couldn't get my hands on an EGR pipe gasket so what do you think would be best...buying gasket matierial and cutting one or just using ultra copper, I know it could possibly see some elevated temperatures so using corrugated cardboard is out of the question

I didn't know there was a gasket for the egr pipe...I just installed mine without it...no problems so far !
