My car is not used as a DD so cutout is not open much . Mostley at the track.
I don't think it matters if you leave it open or closed when car is shut off.

I dont have a cutout anymore but I used to have one when I had a stock catback.

1. depends some days it was open all day and some days it was closed all day. When I would make trips I would have to keep switching back and forth when cruising on the highway to stop all the drone.

2. yes no sense closing it up when your gonna just open it up as soon as you get back. Thats additional wear and tear on your cutout motor

3. Yup I don't see why it would be bad at all.

i open mine every time i drive my car and leave it open when i go to store or car shows. when i park it for a week or so i close it. and i close it everytime i park it for the night or week just because of critters and i dont have cats so they could technically crawl all the way in there. but its fine to leave it open. overnight mine is not a daily driver so that is why i close it.

Lets see,, If my motor to my cut out were to go out it would be because of my "Happy Finger" opening and closing it non stop every time I get in the car

I sometimes leave mine open "in my garage" after I park it for the night. I wouldn't leave it open around town ya never know what might crawl up in there to hang out The thing is meant to open and close so you shouldn't have a issue with it if you should decide to leave it open for any reason.

I have one on my car and I run with it about 1/4 open unless I pass a Cop. If I have a roll-race I cut it all the way open. There are a couple of people here than can tell you how rediculously loud my car is.

I park it with it usually 1/4 open..I've never had a problem with cirtters and ****..

Nothing is going to crawl into a carbon filled exhaust pipe.

I beg to differ...

A lady I used to do yardwork for would always tell me to make sure i closed the garage door and sidedoor if I wasn't in there. I asked her why and she told me about how squirrels would crawl in her exhaust and hide nuts & such in her piping and muffler. She had to get the nuts removed multiple times by a mechanic. She was quite elderly and only drove the car once a week at most so it was apparently a reliable enough place to store food.

When ever I felt like it, most times when I was going to drive the car hard, i.e. Racing.

3.is it ok to leave it open over night

I've ran electric cutouts on all my cars for the last 5 years, I would ONLY recommend getting a DMH performance one, otherwise you are going to have it break and be junk. DMH also offers a 4 yr warranty if you do have any problems with it.
