Ok, got rid of almost all the non essentials (minus ABS) Now 133,000 miles on it, it looks a little rough but runs perfect so work with what I have. Any ideas on what to do to make the engine look presentable. I leave the hood closed right now at cruise nights lol

Get some new split loom and clean up the wiring first. Then do a good engine degreaser. All new vacuum hoses and maybe a battery relocate would also be a good start.

Oh and next time you have a big project to do on the car paint the intake manifold and waterpump housing.

first things first, CLEAN!

get a toothbrush and some simple green at go at all that aluminum casting. (intake,waterpump,heads, etc.)

pass. valve cover. the vacuum tube thats hooked up to the TB when is stock. Is it better to have that deleted and just run that baffle like your running it? any advantages? besides having true cold air along with doing the tb bypass?

a real simple one would be the TB plate. painting the MAF and lid would look nice too

Pull the valve covers and clean them really good, hit them with some 400-600 grit sand paper and a fresh coat of satin black.

Pull the intake manifold and have it cleaned with a engine parts cleaners or sandblaster and coat with powdercoat or paint it with high temp gloss paint.

Clean the throttle body up in a parts cleaner, leave it alone once it's clean or buy an aftermarket billet unit.

Buy a small wire brush and hit all the rust spots on the heads with some oil. It will smoke when you start it up but thats ok.

You can hit the engine bay paint with some 3m rubbing compound and a microfiber towel.

Hit the fuel rails, radiator cap, hose clamps, and intake fins with some metal polishing compound, mothers works well. Here is a pic with just the compound, no sanding or anything:

clean and paint intake manifold etjeir good base coat clear coat podercoating or 500 degor above paint get some nice chrome valve covers any centerbolt will work since you moved the alt. fuel rail covers clean engine and engine bay mabee buff engine bay where you can reach add some chrome caps and covers fuel line relocation if you want it cleans up the look alot

Do a fuel line relocation. You can reroute the fuel lines so they come out right under the brake booster. Then run it along the firewall to the fuel lines. Cleans it up quite a bit.

I will cover the alt wire, thats been bugging me. I want to clean up the intake area with the wires around it. Any ideas?

I want to paint the intake manifold. Should I go red or black?

I want to go with fabricated valve covers. Any recommendations?

The fuel line mod Ive been wanting to do. I am not running wheel well plastic so i just dont want alot of play in the lines.

I just bought some mothers aluminum cleaner for my ProStars so maybe Ill hit the trim on the intake after I paint it.

Love the suggestions, any other ideas?

You won't have to worry about play in the fuel lines - wrap them around at the top. That's what I did. It's hard to tell but it wraps around and then goes into the fuel rail.. just have to figure out a way to keep the lines up against the windshield cowl and it'll be perfect.

How about vette fuel rail covers. I added them and they go a long way toward cleaning up the engine bay!

on a black car, my vote is for black. here's my black intake on my black car.



we did a little hose/wire cleanup on my car when the intake was off for the gasket change. notice that the large hoses on the top of the rear of the intake manifold cannot be seen now. they are tucket in behind the manifold.

Clean it up..get in there with a Blow-tip and blow the dust out of everything..that helps too.

Some people do that but I think that if you re-pin the Connectors and get rid of the empty spots you can make it look really good that way too. I did it like that and I got it down to one connector on that side.

The 4GA wire is for my Battery in the back of the Car.
