Default power stearing reservoir relocation

has anyone tried moving their factory reservoir here? I had a wild hair one night and tried it out just to see if it would fit.

Now the bracket that is there WOULD NOT be the final piece. As you can see there are a few different holes in the plate from having to try different things to clear the spark plug wires. I would be making a new one using the correct holes.

Looks like it would be a pain to fill up.

mainly just to remove it off the fender. It make the engine bay look a little bit less cluttered. The only thing on my inner fender is the ecm, msd 6AL, and wilwood proportioning valve/line lock

I have also removed everything else that would be in the way. What you see is what would be there. Minus the intake; which is the LS1 upper and lower intake.

Post some completed pictures whenever you get done. I'd like to see how it turns out.

No problem i will. I cut and modified the factory acc. bracket as well to move the alt down below, moved the wires that were on top of the passenger fender to the underside as well. So i just wanted to try and move the reservoir somewhere else also to remove the last thing that was there also. The LS1 engines already come with the reservoir bolted directly to the pump on the block so i figured what the hell.

Looking at it right now with nothing really there it looks good. The is also including the fuel line relocation and the abs delete. I just like opening a hood and only seeing an engine.

Does it sit below the pump? Would this cause an issue or not?

I really don't know why you'd mount it there. To be honest, it looks seriously out of place. The stock reservoir is molded and shaped to fit on the fender well. IMO, there are much better things to de-clutter in the engine bay than the power steering reservoir.

Your going to have nothing but problems. Your resivoir needs to be above the rest of the power steering system. If not, you will have air in the system. And every time you open the cap to fill it, the remaining fluid in the system will drain out. You must remount the resivoir above the rest of the system.

why would it drain out? And why would i be opening it all the time to fill it? I have never had a car that i have had to fill the power steering reservoir more than the first time i fill it. that is unless i am draining it to put new fluids in.

But this is the reason why i am asking. It is higher than the power steering just not the pump. It is slightly lower than the pump.

Then I would leave it where it is. I agree with RamAir95TA, there are many, many things you could waste your time on then doing this.

not only will it be hard to fill but just checking it looks like it'd be a PITA

I like the idea, it is just that it seems a bit out of place like others were saying. Maybe turning it 90* degrees or go to the junkyard to look for a small square/rectangle reservoir. That way it does not seem to stick out so much. Overall I can see it cleaning up the fenders quite a bit. How are you going to route the lines?

I know there was somebody out there that justflat out mounted a ps pump with a on-pump reservoir on the driver side of the motor. I don't remember who though.

It needs to be above the power steering pump, period.
