No the ses light went On, then the backfires then the smoke, I beleive the rocker went first. If you saw the rocker in person It looks cheap and the porosity is crap.

Ouch, don't see that every day.

Sucks to hear, but at least you have backup. Hope the insides look better then the outside.

It would be a real smart move to examine all your valvetrain components very carefully after something like that.

Its all coming apart for inspection. Intake is off, should have the heads off later when I get out of work. I might even get the motor out today if I can get a Cherry picker over.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck AC. I know it doesn't help any at this point, but I believe the RRs have a lifetime guarantee.

They better replace them.
Edit...... Just got off the phone with Compcams they say they will at minimum get me new rockers, but have to talk to the warranty Dept about anything else. I sent him the pics and they said it deff looks like a got a rocker with poor porosity and it just broke. I asked if they have seen this b4 and he said 2 times since he has been with comp.

Thats good to hear, that CC is standing by their products. Good news for you too, hopefully they'll cover a little bit more of the damage.

If they would pay for new Rockers, full set of gaskets and any other damage internaly I would be happy. But I do wish they would help if more labor costs but Ill prob just get the new rockers.

Wow, I couldn't even get comp to replace a single lifter that grenaded on my last build. The cam, lifters, and pushrods were all comp but since the rockers were crane my warranty was voided .

That sucks and is BS IMO Puck!!!!
Minimum Ill get new rockers since the rocker bodies have the lifetime warranty.
The guy i talked with was really cool and if you zoom in on my pic of the broken rocker its easy to see how porus it was wich he saw and completely agreed. That rocker completely failed causing a complete tear down plus anyother damages. Hope they come through but I wont hold my breath for anything above the rockers.

Man, that sucks. And you just had that put together not too long ago. Never got to run it's full potential. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully, didn't hurt anything else in the motor.

speaking of cherry picker...have you seen the kid on here thats building a turbo TA...he's like 15 and his work is incredible...he has a huge build thread buried somewhere

anyways...when he was swappin motor in and out he was just dropping the whole front end out the bottom of the car..looked easier than trying to finaggle the motor out from under the cowl

Thanks guys!
Im doing it in the garage this time, no funds to have Speed do it. I have the motor pretty much ready to come out. How are guys lifting the body when dropping the motor?

Furniture dolly and two QUALITY floor jacks. Not the small cheap one ton pieces of ****.
Jack the car up, take front wheels off, loosen k-member, lower k-member onto furniture dolly, disconnect k-member and related components, jack frame up, move dolly w/ k-member and engine away from body.
You will have to have a significant amount of room to do this.
Make sure to at least drain the tranny fluid before doing this.

Good Idea with the funiture dolly. Not sure if my garage is tall enough though. I guess I could do it in the driveway then just push the car back in.

unless you put the k-member back in the car without the motor you won't be able to push it anywhere, the front suspension is coming out with the engine when you do it this way.......Fast, but not necessarily the best for someone without a lift. It can be done, but the car will have to sit outside until you get the new engine on the k-member and ready to reinstall....Not something I would want to do with Chicago weather and a car that's as pretty as yours...

just my .02.....if you strip it down to the short block it should come out fairly easily....
