Oil Pan Removal?
How hard is it to remove the oil pan completely and replace the gasket without pulling the engine or motor mounts or anything???
I am gonna be repairing the retarded job I managed to pull on my cam swap, so I will already have most of the bolts out so I can drop the front to get my Timing Chain Cover off...how much more would it take to just remove it and replace the gasket altogether???

It will be impossible without jacking up the engine. It just wont happen. you need to remove the two motor mount bolts. Raise the engine until the top of the trans hits the firewall/tunnel and then that should give you enough room to remove the pan.

You don't have to remove the motor mounts to lift the engine lol.. You just remove the long and thick *** bolts that go through the mount itself. Not that difficult. But if it doesn't leak.. Don't mess with it

Get yourself a STB. Then you can strap your headers to your STB and then you can pull the motor mount pins which will drop your k-member down (when body is sitting on stands up front) enough to slip your pan out and back in with ease.

I'm good...it took us a LONG *** TIME to get those long bolts back in...I'll pass. The Oil Pan Gasket is not leaking, I just wanted to replace it because I have replaced every other gasket on this car other than that one...so I figured I would go ahead and knock it out...but after getting these responses I think I will pass lol. I did it without removing the oil pan or tearing the gasket the first time, I think I can do it again! lol.

Lol. Eventually it will leak. I agree it was a complete PITA to take the pan out. I had to take the motor mount bolts out, jack up the engine as high as it would go, and then take out as many of the k-member bolts as I could w/o dropping it to get the pan out.

i just took out the pins and then jacked up the engine on the crank hub and then removed the oilpan. It took about 2 minutes to get the pins out and right back in. The first time those have been removed since installed in 93. It also helps to get #7 and #8 at about half stroke to make the pan clean with ease.
