Get it rebalanced, the Eagle balance job should be assumed poor. While your machinist has it he can inspect it for other obvious flaws.

Really I would sooner use a junkyard motor than a dirt cheap rotating assembly, be cheaper and in all likelyhood more reliable.

I have a forged eagle crank in my 383.
I intentionally ordered it not balanced ($200 less) then had a trusted machinist take care of it ($125)
had it been far enough out to require mallory, it would have cost $40 or $80 more.

In retrospect, I don't necessarily regret using the Eagle crank, it should handle the power without a problem;
but if I'd known the total cost of the project, I might have gone ahead and spent the money on a more expensive crank
if nothing else but for peace of mind.

Personally I would stay away from Eagle. Save up some $$$ towards something more stout.

I,ve been running an Eagle crank for 4 years with no issues. Have had it rebalanced twice (rod and piston changes). Still going strong.

I have an eagle balanced RA in my car, no problems here but personally I wouldn't trust spinning it too high, I only rev to 6100~rpm

if you're gonna buy a "kit" you might as well go bigger than 355 IMO, no price difference outside of having to clearance the block which you can do yourself if you wish

Why take the chance? You can get a Lunati sledgehammer or Callies dragonslayer for 600-700.

Where can you get deals like this on a new 1 piece RMS crank? I waited almost a year for a good deal to pop up on a Callies

I think a Compstar would be about $700 and that would be a good option.

Here are my comments on Eagle followed by an ENGINE BUILDER agreeing with those comments.

From Lunati's website direct you can get a sledgehammer for 700.

http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=157&gid=160

From Jegs it's $600

http://www.jegs.com/i/Lunati/638/CJ1...0002/-1?CT=999

It's the same part # that Thunderracing has for an LT1 crank. It's 1 piece RMS so afaik it's right. It's $795 at thunder though.
