yes it will work but you will need the calipers and rotors from the ls1 car ,everything else will bolt right up ,just start turning bolts like I did lol..make sure you have some wd40 and a good breaker bar for those rusty *** bolts and some patients ..

You don't need them.. From what I've learned (looking to do this same thing) You'll have to pull the axles to put the LT1 brakes, backing plates, and LT1 axles on the LS1 rear.
I'm hoping that's all that needs to be done. Should be easy right? Damn speed channel makes it look easy hah.

ok having just done this a few weeks ago. all you have to do is pull the axles out of the ls1 rear and put your plate and speed sensor from ur old rear and put it on the new rear. then put axles back in and put your lt1 brakes on to the new rear. as far as that that is all you have to do to swap it in. i just did this and acctually i did the opposite. i took out my broke 3.23 geared factory rear and swapped in a 98 ls1 m6 rear wit 3.42 lol. its very straight forward and easy to do. had it done in a few hours.... good luck... as far as i know that is all that u need to know... so YES IT WILL WORK!!!!!

You need to verify if the rear end has the same ABS setup as your car. 3 channel cars (ABS only) will have a single ABS sensor in the pumpkin, while 4 channel cars (ABS + traction control) have a sensor at each wheel (RPO code NW9 is traction control). Both LT1 and LS1 cars came with both types. If they don't match, you have more work for yourself
Since the e-brake setup is different on LS1 cars, you have two options. Either you pull the LS1 axles and brake backing plates and replace them with LT1 axles and backing plates/brake setup, or you convert your e-brake setup to the LS1, which is a whole extra project.

96formulabird is right. Just swap your LT1 axles and brakes over to the LS rear. I used a 3-channel LS rear in my 4-channel 95 T/A and kept everything working also. The only thing that held me up was the small bolt that holds the pin in the center of the diff, you have to remove to get the c-clips off the axles for their removal. Just make sure you use a six point 5/16" box-end wrench. Mine stripped using a tweleve point. Luckily I could still get the six point on and got it out. It took me three days to find a six point 5/16" wrench by the way, no stores had them, finally dug one out of a friends tool box.

4 channel and 3 channel axles are different. so if yours is one or the other they will not work. If there the same then your good to go. You can swap a 3 channel in a 4 channel rear car no problem. You just wont wont have traction control which isnt a big deal.
other then switching backing plates to accomadate your LT1 brakes its a straight forward swap. im gonna assume since your car is a 95 it doesnt have TC so it will be a 3 channel. so hopefully the 98 rear is a 3channel also. You can tell the channel: if there is a sensor at the top of the pumpkin its a 3 channel. if there are a sensor on each end of the axles tubes its 4 channel. If the 98 rear is a 4ch then you will have to use LS1 brakes in the rear
