First thing to do is put a mechanical gauge on it to see what the pressure is really doing. It could be an issue with the sender or an incompatibility with the LT1 sender and the S-10 dash. It could also be a worn out engine. The mechanical gauge will tell you if you have serious problem, or a funky dash.

i think i did get one from autozone when we first put the motor in the truck. have a wiring harness that was custom built for that motor to be in there in that truck, so i would assume that would meant hat all my guauges should work accordingly and not read incorrectly. but i dunno, lol. I just dont want to drive it if its going to affect the motor since i just got the heads redone and the motor rebuilt

ok, i called GM and they said that its going to be either a 1/8 inch thread or a 1/4 inc thread, any way to check them out besides pulling the old one out to get the right one?

npt? And i dropped off money at the shop for the swap and he said that was a part we replaced, but it was a autozone one, so it could be a crappy sending unit?

Like mentioned, you need a manual gauge.

Well apparently i didnt have time to do the manual gauge with my coworker yesterday, so i want to know if anyone knows the part numbers to gmpartsdirect.com for the oil sending units. I am going to buy a GM one and put it in.

djjab what size is yours? I called the GM dealer and she said theres two differnt ones, one with a 1/4in and one with a 1/8th inch threading. I am not sure which i will need.

I have a acdelco one in the box for my build, thinking of going to full mechanical gauge however. Will check the part # tomorrow.

Another reason I want to go mechanical is that when i did my white gauges, I might have not put the needle back on correctly for the oil pressure side. I want something more accurate. Anybody have any good gauge recommendations?

yours is going tpo be the 1/8npt. The reason i know this is because your engine is out of a 95. The 1/4npt is the one that originally came on my 93 trans am which is located above the oil filter on the side of the block. I have recently got rid of the factory one and modified to fit the later model 1/8npt that goes on the top of the block behind the intake manifold.

Oil pressure sensor GM part #'s (provided via shbox.com)
93-94 (1/4npt) 24575127
95-97 (1/8npt) 10201491

Mine is the 1/8 thread, the one that goes on back of the intake. I needed the 1/4 that goes on the bottom
