More Problems
So got back home today to work on the car. I took the plugs out last weekend to find 2,3,6,7 were fouled after running for less than 5 mins. Also last weekend we cleaned the injectors, and checked my plug wires. So I came home today and cleaned my plugs. SO i try to start the car and I hear a big backfire then it turns over and fires but its still running on 4 cylinders. So My dad and I think that the timing cam is off by either a few ticks or 180 degrees. What do you guys think? Also I hope I have not messed my rings because I took my oil cap off and it had a strong hint of gas. So Ill do an oil change. Is there anything else I should look at. Almost everything on this engine is new. It also ran perfect before it was rebuilt(other than it had no oil pressure). So anything else I should check before i tear the engine down for the 4th time.

How did you install the Cam?
This is the proper setup for the Dots..they aren't exactly perfectly straight in the pic, but this is how they go.
I will say that if it was 180 off it would be running like ****, or not at all.
Is the OPTI lined up correctly?

I lined the opti up myself and it was the third time doing it so I know what I am doing. I also did the timing the first time by myself and it looked like you picture and the car ran perfect except for the screen on the oil pump falling off. This time however is was down by a machine shop. So I do not know if the set it up right. It should be since I was recommend to them and they have been open for 25 years.

Every since I got the short block back from the machine shop. It was running great except my screen fell of on the oil pump. So I went to change that and the was a spun bearing so took it and got it rebuilt. Since then its ran like crap.

If that's the case then I would be looking into getting some money back..hell with them fixin it and ****** up something else.
Start tearing down the front of the Engine, get everything off to get to the Timing Gears. You may have to pull the Hub, but atleast it's something that you can do.
That's what I would do, regardless if a Machine Shop did it.
I guess I'm just in that mood, I've been fixing alot of people's ****-ups lately.

yeah i should have checked it to make sure since I had to fix my hub since he did not have it lined up with top dead center. Two months or hard ache and I hope this is the problem. If this does not do it I am going to be taking the engine out and going ls power

So we are thinking that the timing marks are correct. However we think that since the bottom gear can spin twice to the top gears one we think that the machine shop lined the cam up at top dead center for cylinder 6 instead of top dead center for cylinder 1. So im going to check the valves. Nice to ask a mechanic for some help. What do you guys think.

Could be a very good possibility.
If I'm not mistaken I beleive in that the pic that I have there the way the Timing Gears are puts #6 at TDC..when the Cam Gear is at 12:00 Position is when #1 is TDC.
For some reason I remember it that way..
