well considering that you live in south carolina i doubt that you really need it. I live in Texas and it is hot as hell here but i do not have it here. Here is what mine looks like (the delete panel from Alvin at pcmforless)

Custom made acc. bracket to move the alt down to the a/c compressor location. Bolt ons, cam, ported heads, ported intake, 52mm, 30lb injectors, full suspension, 3600ss yank stall, built 4l60, and a lot of weight reduction. its been under the knife since may of last year though. Coming close to it baeing back on the road.

the bottom of the mount is retained to install the idler pulley. so the belt system still functions properly.
This pic was during the trial and error but this is the pulley used.

the_merv did everything i did except he left the guts behind the firewall and still retains his heater. great idea if you live up north. I will be installing an aftermarket heater system in mine though

I used a much shorter belt but if you look at the way the power steering pump is the belt has to go under the pulley so you still have to have a way to do this and keep tension on the pulley.

LOL its cool. my actual plan was to delete the power steering as well but my girlfriend was in town at the time of doing everything and she was not happy. She started throwing around well what if you get to drunk to drive and i have to drive. I wont be able to steer it. so it got left on there.
