Are you absolutely sure about that? rskrause has reported using the stock PCM to 8,000rpm. I shift at 7200rpm and it's completely happy.
They way I understand it is there are no spark curves or fuel maps past 7200rpm for an OBDII PCM, but will keep using the last known data past the rpm threshold.

This is very true. I have spent way more over my initial intentions. Not a big deal, but the small costs will add up quick.
Yeah must be OBD2 b/c mine hits a limiter at 7krpms. If you want a 10second N/A LT1 with LE3's on it, I'll sell you mine also. It's new with 5 passes on it for way under 10k, bolt in and go fast. Later Clint
thanks for the offer but i think im gonna build my own. ive decided to go with a forged 383, keep my LE2 heads (upgrade to LE3 if its in the budget), bigger cam, Single plane, MSD6AL2, Standalone nitrous plate kit. with the way the chassis is setup that should easily put me into the 10s n/a and hopefully 9s on the jug

Yes, because I'm going with a single plane I have less to worry about with the nitrous distribution since it's equal distance to every cyl from the plate unlike the regular lt1 intake, unless you go direct port 
I'm getting an msd 6al2 to pull timing and if that's not enough I'll get the msd setup so I can adjust the base timing. I was told you can go as low as 14* before you need to worry about the base timing

86, I was going to build a standalone for my kit too. I have since decided to switch to E85 and eliminate the need for the it.
You can switch for way cheaper than buying a nice standalone and always have a 105 octane fuel in the tank. Not to mention the power benefits to be had..
Just something to think about.

stand alone nitrous setup is totally FTW. im gonna do the same thing on my car. 1 gallon of c16 will last alot longer than it would mixing it in your tank, yet another way to save cash. 
check out a holley blue fuel pump. you can nab em cheap on ebay. plenty of fuel for a standalone setup, and at 30 bucks shipped you cant beat the price. you can get fuel cells cheap on ebay too. 69 for a plastic 1 gallon, 95 for an AL.

If your not going to spray it or force air through it we offer a LT1 408. We can bring the long in for the 10k not a problem. How much HP your looking for will determine the top end costs but we've built these before and made 500+ rwhp through and auto so it can be done.
That's not really a big number for a 408ci engine.
