A BAD *** forged 355 using the stock crank.

Solid roller.

FAST, BS3, or LSx engine management.

Ported trick flows or AFR's

1 7/8 Kooks

Balanced to 7500ish

High Comp

E85

200+ kit, progressive

Every trick in the book for the engine

Thats what "I" would do, or at least until I killed my budget lol.

That is well over 10k that top end is like 4-5 alone. Not interested in reusing the stock crank, I want to go forged but 355 isn't out of the question

No way man. Call some AFR dealers or even the TF's ported by AI arent even close to 4K...

You can get AFR's waayy cheaper than listed on their site FYI.

And 355 wouldn't be for power, just to clean the bores up to the next piston size. You could go .020 over, that would yield a 353.

Callies Compstar Crank 3.75"
Callies Compstar 6" Rods
Diamond or SRP Pro Series Pistons
AI TFS 215cnc Heads
AI Solid Roller Package (Id stay under 7100 rpm due to the LT1 computer having a sizeure over that, it gets expensive when you start switching to aftermarket computers usuall around 2K, take my word for it lol.)
Ported Stock Intake
Plus all of the other obveous bolt on crap and I'd say you'd have a badass motor for around that price.

10K will be right about where you can get away with a budget forged block and your heads/cam of choice. Depending on the machine shop you'll be spending about 4 to 6K on the short block alone for all machine work and assembly. If you do what gregrob suggested (assuming he means to at least have the short block gone through with new rings, bearings, deck, freeze plugs, bore/hone, balance) then you'll have room for suspension, gears, wheels, tires (if applicable). The stock crank has an excellent reputation for taking whatever you can throw at it.

sorry i should have mentioned that this is a full suspension car with 4.30s in a 12bolt. and by full suspension i mean full rod end front and rear with a wolfe weld in anti roll bar. the reason i say that its a 4-5k package is because if i go with the heads that i want (TFS 21*) with Jesel shaft mount rockers and being ported thats 3500 right there. thats not including intake (i would like to go single plane if im spending that kind of coin on heads) and those heads are going to like higher RPMs then the stock PCM will allow

383 using Callies compstar crank and rods with Mahle pistons or CP's new bullet series pistons. or If you want 396, Scat crank, because there are no compstar 3.875 1pc cranks available right now, compstar rods and your choice pistons. We also Have the best prices on AFR in the country let me know if I can help.

And whoever was charging 15 grand for a 396 was robbing you hard. The parts for a 396 and a 383 are the same price!!!! Trust me on this.

Sorry I guess I didn't see where you had said anything about the fast system, Nitrous kit, and the other intake setup, I didn't count on that in the price.

TT kit, build a forged LC 355 and reuse your top end.

If your not going to spray it or force air through it we offer a LT1 408. We can bring the long in for the 10k not a problem. How much HP your looking for will determine the top end costs but we've built these before and made 500+ rwhp through and auto so it can be done.

thats easy to do, and doesn't require the FAST system to accomplish.

The easy is assuming you have the rest of the chassis to handle the power

buddy of mine had a budget 383, eagle crank, eagle rods, SRP pistons, AFR 195's hydraulic roller, OEM pcm and opti doing exactly what you are wanting.

My setup is very similar but more nitrous oriented...ran 11.10 @ 123 (1.6) and 9.91 @ 136 and has 9.6-7s @ 139-40 on the current jetting, and still has another 100HP to go

If you are wanting the FAST system then that only leaves you 8K to build the engine.

we have very similar goals, i will be eying up your threads

i am going to try doing it with a callies rotating assembly and le2 heads. also the direct port should help. its just the ignition i'm really concerned with.

i know it does require the fast system but i dont want to limit my RPMs to 7k and risk blowing my motor if i end up going beyond that for whatever reason. the rest of the car is setup to handle it other then the trans but that will come at a later date (current trans/clutch will handle motor passes just not nitrous passes)

Probably not for the simple fact that whenever budgeting something like this you need to multiply the amount to at least half the total cost if not double. That's after everything is said and done/turn key, locked, cocked and ready to rock.

no risk of blowing the engine on a stock PCM...I have a plan in the works to use the OEM PCM and opti, but turn the engine 8K plus.

now back to the original request it will be a little more difficult to do on a 8K budget if your are set on using the FAST XFI....doubt it can be a "good" solid roller on that $$$.
